Re: Can I see your Valve Covers?

I know.I wanted another pair but the wife surprised me with these ones.I'm not complaining though.

I'll bet 68cajun will be running an electric fuel pump with a regulator.

Re: Can I see your Valve Covers?

I'm contemplating a pair of these for my Vortec Tahoe. Anyone got a line on other options for the center bolt units that will clear the alternator (the notch welded into this one does)?

Fun thread! I always luv detailed engine porn.

I'm surpised that so many folks are running chrome valve covers, what with their heat retention qualities. I guess if coolant temps stay reasonable, why not go for looks.

On Bobbyk's aluminum valve covers, I like that one could drill them for PCVs and vents. Also, the aluminum would help cooling some. The alum is cast, not polished, right? How are they for keeping them clean and not staining easily?

Does anyone know if one could get those or similar aluminum covers with that same roof top (^) design without the raised chevy lettering? That would be my preference. Cool aluminum with room for roller rockers, bosses for PCV valves, and an understated appearance.

Re: Can I see your Valve Covers?

My covers came with the holes allready drilled and gromets for the PVC and breather.
The covers are cast aluminium and are NOT polished.
They will stain if not clearcoated.I clearcoated mine with a high heat clear, designed for engine compartments.
I can't remember the brand of clear I used but I think it was a SEM brand.I just went to my local auto body supply store and told them what I was doing and they gave me the right product to do it.

I gave my covers about 5 coats, allowing 24hr's between coats and letting them dry indoors at room temp.
The clear turned out well and gives them a nice glossy look.

here's a couple better pic's.
