Re: How much $$ do you have into your truck?
My truck was stolen last summer and I went through the reciepts and in what I could find (which was NOT all of it) I found over $24k in parts and labor. I bought the truck in high school so I had to pay labor on the 3 trannies I ate up behind the 383 stroker motor which was a LOT. I don't regret any money I've spend, but I realized that experience teaches you a lot. I had less than $3,000 tied up in my old 82 Camaro including buying it and it was a solid 12 second car with a nice interior, stereo, and everything but paint.

Re: How much $$ do you have into your truck?
After purchase price, new engine, rebuilt tranny, disc brake changeover, and wheels, I have right at 15 in mine. I still lack to paint it, but for a Driver, I'm still doin better than a new truck.

Re: How much $$ do you have into your truck?
Paid $1,300 for her in '96. Drove it for 4 years and the only repairs were a new heater core and cleaned the carb/fuel tank. I pirated a free interior out of a 72 Custom 1 Ton truck, Probably spent 30 bucks on a spray can interior job, and $150 on a primer/sealer for the body. Used my dads garage and tools and only had to buy a small amount of bondo and sand paper. In '03 I spent about $400 on a front-end rebuild/disk brake power brakes upgrade. At the same time I bought a rebuilt motor and all the stuff to convert from an I6 3 speed to a v8 700R4. Spent about 1,300 on all that. I'm fixin to spend about 2K on her within the next few months.

Re: How much $$ do you have into your truck?
I purchased mine as an incompleted project/basket case for $2,000 and I
have a total of $3,500 into it so far. Now I just need to finish putting it together, but just can't find the time! Here is a pic of it just before I picked it up after it's paint job.

Re: How much $$ do you have into your truck?
I'm at ~$6k right now with the LS1 T56 swap. I've sold off a lot of the old parts, so it might be closer to 5k. I plan on walking out with about $8k in the truck when I'm happy driving it around, then splurge on body work when it's all paid down.

Re: How much $$ do you have into your truck?
I have around 23K-25K in the K10. That's 14mos in the body shop with major repair or replacement of everything aside from the hood and the roof. An engine rebuild, lift kit, interior, stereo, blah blah. If my wife ever teaches me to use the scanner I will post some pics of what it used to look like (HULL).
I haven't added up the receipts on the C10 in a while but off the top of my head I would say 10.5K-11.5K. There are always people who tell me "you'll never get your money out of those trucks". Ah hell! If I bought a new truck for 20K in 5yrs when it was paid for what would it be worth? Maybe 10K-8K? It makes me feel like my old trucks aren't such a bad hobby. Oh by the way, I paid for it all myself. They weren't given to me or inherited. I put these together while working a job that pays $13 an hour. I also did it while making a house payment and other bills. Some people have assumed that I live with my parents to be able to have these trucks. These trucks are like anything else in life, if you want them you will come up with a way to pay for them. I have all the receipts for both of my trucks in file folders. I keep the folders in a fire proof safe. I have the K10 insured for 20K and the C10 for 14K. Any way it's just money right? |

Re: How much $$ do you have into your truck?
$22K and that didn't include the paint work labor that was gratis from a very good friend... looking back it's kinda' stupid that I ever thought I could do it for $7K, as originally planned.....
