Not sure what you mean by that question Mylilbowtie?

By dead hook I ment like at the rack track. Have you ever seen a car that just hooks and is gone with very little or no tire slip. I was just kind of wondering how much traction is added. I'm not saying they don't work or anything. Just trying to rationalize / cost need for them. Right now they are out of my means. The look pretty cool however.

Well, there is a truck on there that has a 1.46 60ft time. It makes a definite improvement.

Not sure what the difference is between the HD spring and the std., but I have the 5 leaf springs (flipped) and the caltracs. No problem with the install. Bolted up just like the instructions.

Allright, count me in, Im going to bite the bullet and go ahead and get them. I am flipped but I made my own flip kit by getting a new spring perch and welding it to the bottom of the axle tube, not shure if that changes anything or not.

Re: CalTracs - anyone interested? -Group Buy

FWIW I have three responses from the Mopar forums I posted to, two say they are in and one is a maybe.

Any idea on when orders will start being taken, and for how long? Also, any estimate on what the shipping cost might be?

I am leaving for China again a week from tomorrow. I sure don't want to miss out on this.

What time frame are you looking at getting them Chris? Also I know you said they would fit HD springs but what about 3/4 ton leafs? I've got I think 8 leafs on there.

I have the same setup with the new perches welded to the underside of the axle tube. I had the western chassis flip kit but I hooked real good at the track once and the axle tube bracket ended up ripping the original upper perches off of the axle tube. My rearend rotated up and messed up my drive shaft real good.

8 leafs might be tight. I have a 5 leaf and one leaf comes close to the tube that connects to the bracket on the front leaf perch. I will take some pictures tomorrow and post them on Sunday.

No problem...I tried getting to your catalog but was getting some errors. Can you shoot me a price for '79 front/rear bumpers (no molding holes, "blazer" type rear), front/rear braket kits and bolts shipped to 32259?

Thanks.

Doesn't change anything. As long as you have the plate on the bottom, the caltrac's will replace that.

COOL! 2 more!
As soon as I get 10, I will order order them. I would say the it will end a week from the time I hit #10, so I will post the number of those in at the top of this post.

If you are honestly in, I will take care of you. Just don't leave me holding a spare for weeks...

Brandon, I am thinking the 21st is the end. I will let you know. HD and 3/4T are the same ones, for your year should be 7+1 (overload) I will verify the fitment with them again.

Wild83C10Can you get a pic of the Overload to caltrac clearance if you can. I think this is where the biggest problem will occur.

When did you try and what error did you get? I will get you a quote and PM you on it to keep it out of this post. Is that ok?

Re: CalTracs - anyone interested? -Group Buy

DUH!!! I guess I should follow my own advice and look for answers. Caltracs has an application for 3/4T trucks, so it should definitely cover a 1/2T truck with 3/4T springs..

3210 73-87 CHEVY C20, GMC C2500
3214 73-87 CHEVY C20, GMC C2500 (flip kit)

With that said. If those that are 100% confirmed on this will send an email to webmaster@73-87chevytrucks.com with CALTRAC Group Buy in the subject and your name and shipping address and Application (year/model/...) and anything you think is relative AND how you plan to pay ( I take Discover, MC, Visa and money order) for this I would appreciate it. ALSO, Put your USERNAME in there for me too... BTW, we are at 11 right now if the list at the first post is correct. Please check it.

Re: CalTracs - anyone interested? -Group Buy

Chris, I just got off the phone with Caltrac, here is what they told me in regards to SD vs. HD springs, and any clearance issues.

The 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton kits are the same, he said that the part numbers listed on their site for 3/4 ton trucks is wrong...and should be the same number as the 1/2 ton. He was pretty sure the bushing size on the leaf springs was the same, but I myself am not sure about this...can you verify that?

I then asked about the clearance issues, he said the bars do get close to the overload springs, but you can grind away a little bit of the spring and be fine, or you can remove the overload spring...which is what they do on their installs.

I hope this helps some, and if you can answer my question about the spring bushing diameter i would feel much better. If you can't, I will still place my order, but I hope you will be able to correct this if it doesn't fit.

E-mail has been sent.

According to the Energy suspension website there are three leaf spring bushing sizes: 1-3/8, 1-1/2 and 1/3/4. Do we need to measure our springs so they know what size to include? Do they include all 3 sizes with the bars?

My caltracs came with only one set of bushings. I will take measurement and let you know when I post the pics.

Re: CalTracs - anyone interested? -Group Buy

There are 2 different sizes that I know of (3 actually but, as far as I know, they are on the 73 only that I have found and of course it was on mine... another story.)
BUT, they have an application chart that shows what size bushing fits what year. So if your 74 calls for a 1-1/2 size for example, that is what they will send you. IF you get the kit and it is the wrong size, Caltrac will get you the correctly sized bushing. If you have problems, you know I will fix it for ya...
