Re: 400 sb

I always read/thought/heard that the 400 was a pretty well-designed engine, and when built up right, it is king of the SBC.

Re: 400 sb

Well, I had a nice 400 in a 81 4x4, .30 sealed power hyper flat tops, the old style 327-350hp cam, performer intake, headers, adv kit in the distributor. It ran great in that truck. Pulled hard. I put somewhere to 1000-1500 miles on it and sold the truck. The next guy blew it up in 2 weeks. My experience was good. I have no idea what or how it happened to the other guy. It never ran hot though. I was always in fear of that too.

Chevy never made a 400 big block 400sb 402bb Thought I'd clarify that before the stones start raining down(They usually do)really ticks some people off for some reason(I suppose they got a set of 402 bb heads as 400 heads assuming they were for their 400sb).
