Re: Dash/Gauge Questions

Some vendor somewhere serious needs to come up with the clear plastic piece that has lettering in some color other than that god awful green! He'd make millions! Black, blue, red, hell pink would almost be better!

That looks like a single LED... if it is, it won't be worth jack.

shouldnt be to hard to do yourself really... you could always have a sign shop make you some vinyl in what ever colors you want..... go get a piece of plexi glass, lay it on your stocker and cut it to the right shape... with it still laying on your stocker stick all your vinyl letters and numbers on so they are in the correct spot and whammo custom gauges

The problem with doing that is the numbers won't show up at night.
The numbers/lettering on the plastic grabs the light and lights up, a sticker on the plastic, be it inside the plastic or outside the plastic, would not light up.

Re: Dash/Gauge Questions

Would any of you guys put a white face on a speed warning speedometer? That is my dilema for the week. Trying to decide if I want to risk my working speed warning unit.

The over lay is just vinyl...Does that line part light up?? I never seen one in person.... if you were to do it, just cut out the part that goes over the line

Re: Dash/Gauge Questions

How hard is it to get the vinyl and all its residue off the gauges? I have been thinking about it but I am not sure if I want to risk ruining my speed warning speedo that was so hard to get.

Re: Dash/Gauge Questions

I don't know if this will help, but here we go! Question three! I bought a six pack of light sockets from NAPA. They were made buy a company called Big A, the word BIG with a big red A under it. It is lableled SOCKET ASSEMBLY, Part number 15-1324.
Back of box reads, double contact socket assembly. Fits instrument panels with printed circuit board, 5/8 mounting hole. Chevrolet 70-84. Bottom of box reads Product of Standard Motor products, INC. Made in Canada. They were a perfect match for my truck. Hope this is helpful for all looking for these. Total of six per pack. Andy also said he has alot and that is good too!
Respectfully

1. Can I paint the needles on the gauges? I think it would be cool to make them yellow like the truck

2. Is there a way to make the light through the gauges appear to be yellow? I'd like to replace the glass plastic piece because it's very foggy and is not cleaning very well

and last but not least

3. can the black plastic clips that hold the bulbs be found at autoparts stores? Autozone, Pep Boys, etc?

Thanks guys.. figured while I had it apart I'd get it the way I wanted

Re: Dash/Gauge Questions

the vinyl comes off easily with the same amount of heat used to apply it. the residue is usally a very small amount and if you heat right it most likely will not leave any residue behind.
