Re: Updates on my 68 project. I now have a rust free 6' bed!!!

68GENIII,
Do you have to cut and weld a longbed box both in front of the wheel openings and the back to get it spaced properly when you shorten a frame? Or can you just take out what you need from in front of the wheel openings?
Thanks,
JRB

12" in front of the wheel, 8" behind. If you cut it just right, the body lines are dead on.

So, what has to be done to the frame to get it all to work out?

the frame must be shortened directly under the cab 12" and the rear must be shortened 8" from the rear. theres a write up on it http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=123624

I just picked up a 67 Longbed custom but it wont be a longbed for long. Is there to many longs in there?
69face,
Thanks for the info on the shortening process.

Re: Updates on my 68 project. I now have a rust free 6' bed!!!

I have a blazer thats is full of old bondo and bad patch work. nice frame and front clip is about it. I want to buy a nice long bed and make a trazer with a nice lift and a set of 40s on it. I just want it to look like an old stomper. this will help me see were to cut the bed behind the wheels and look right.
