I like both 1st and 2nd place!!!!!!!! Those guys have balls. They don't care what the pickup is worth - they're doing it their way!!!!!!!!!!

if yer gonna cut yer dash, I'd definatley recommend not doing it the way those folks did certainly you gotta have tunes in yer ride, and it looks kinda silly for the radio to be anywhere else but there.

My thoughts

The only way to fix those chopped up dashes is to weld
in a new piece from a donor vehicle.

BTW, I just bought a Auto Custom Sound USA 5 with the stereo speaker that goes in the original mono speaker location. I think I paid around $350 or so. This radio is truly a piece of crap. I will put it in the next vehicle I plan on selling. I put a Sony in my 72 Scout that cost $50 and fit without cutting the dash. It sounds great. My 2 cents

Here is mine. I cut the opening with some tin snips. I have a bezel that covers all the edges to give it a factory professional look. I didn't hesitate to cut my dash. That was one of the first things I did when I bought it. The little sparkomatic deck in there was eating tapes and sounded crappy, so I cut the dash to install a Kenwood unit.

Auxillary outlets for the laptop, cellphone and whatever else in necessary in todays' society....that's what I see. The radio opening is sized appropriately to enable further cutting to install the navigation system that he will be removing from his best friends' Yukon. Yukons don't need them, anyway...just driving it to and from the mall. Yukon knows the way without the GPS.

As for repairing the dash, how long do you think it will be before some aftermarket vendor has created a patch panel to repair these butchered dashes? Well, pardner, that's too long!

Great job Dubie

If you don't know how to use tools, then don't cut your dash and go back in the house and sit with mommy .

If you like the factory look, then fine...keep that "classic" push button am in its place, but get real - these are old trucks, and they're made of metal...not gold.

I'm thinking for mine, since my cab is going to a metal shop anyway to have the gas filler... filled, along with a few rust spots fixed up, I'd like to bring them a radio sleeve a standard din, and have them fill the existing hole (since mines all bent up and way too big for any new radio thanks to my cousin and her CB) and have them fill the hole.. then cut it to be the right size. It will add cost to my body work, but.. I think if yer gonna do it, may as well do it as best as you can eh.

I agree btw, these trucks are made of metal, not gold, once its cut, it can always be replaced, either from a junkyard, or by a good metal shop.
