Great looking truck. Whatever he paid for it is worth it. it sure beats spending 15 or 20 grand on paint and body work and everything else that goes along with it

Consider Sanderson cast iron headers. Sanderson sells them ceramic metallic coated. Less engine compartment heat than tube headers but still provide header performance. Great look, too. High cost, though.

Craig thanks for watching my back man! Yeah that's a Holley fuel regulator rolling into a Holley carb. I was surprised that no one picked up on the Vette valve covers yet.

After searching for only 3 weeks we ran up on this 71C10 in an Alabama garage. This fellow had owned it for the last 25 years and kept it in the garage the entire time! The truck had one repaint in 1995 in the factory colors. This bad boy is arrow straight no waves or dings to be seen! All the moldings look like new, solid corners, rockers and doors. Not even any rust under the battery on the inner or outer fender. It is a V8 truck with no A/C but has power brakes and power steering. The tires on this bad boy still had the tits on them. While the cash was being counted out the old guy just started shaking his head and walked away. I think he was crying cause he wouldn't look at us after the deal was made. As soon as we made it in with it the bugguard, toolbox and bedrails were dumped in the parts pile. The paint looked like it hadn't been shined in quite a while so the buffer was broke out and the afternoon was spent polishing the paint. We also removed what was left of the black paint that went around the grill shell. My buddy cleaned all day and took it to a cruise in Fort Ogelthorpe tonight. Everyone who checked it out seemed to like what he had found. I thought I made some pictures of it at the cruise but apparently I didn't. These pictures were made at the old guys house he bought it from and a couple were made while cruiseing it home. I think we will have a new board member soon! He wants to come with something cool for a prestige plate but he needs some ideas.

Re: backwoods garage find!

I noticed the vette vc's, but I just now had a chance to look at the thread. Very nice find. I have a thing for trucks originally from AL. Mine came from Gadsden.

Asa, check out Hedman Elite headers. Get the part number Craig has on GQ. They dump up in the frame and are still full length. I'm gonna get a set for mine.

Re: backwoods garage find!

Leave it to Andy to notice Asa's wife in the background. She's very nice in person and a recent college grad. Smart enough to be with a guy with TWO SWEET trucks. I like the comment you made Asa about your wife telling you it's not for sale. That sounds like something Mandi would say to me.

Hope your friend joins quick!!!

I noticed them, I had a set on mine. Nice original looking truck. Needs a front plate. Not sure what to suggest. License plate GREEN-10?

Re: backwoods garage find!

He's been lurking around here for a few days and I can tell you that he appreciates the compliments! He's waiting until after he decides on his prestige tag choice before he joins the board. He wants to have his board name be the same as his tag. He's staying pretty much on the down low for now on the $ amount. He has been looking around like a madman at headers and exhaust components (due to the factory ones leaking a tad). I told him if he was going to lower it to go ahead and do it now due to possible interference with the exhaust. Heck it's more money to spend now but cheaper than having to redo the new exhaust later after the drop. In the meantime he has been spending his evenings cleaning up the bad boy and shopping around for parts. He has already located a Camaro tach for the dash along with a 3/4 ton swaybar for the frontend. A deal has also been struck to trade his wheels for some 8" rally wheels. You guys know how it is, the gears in your head never stop turning it's just a matter of time and money to get things going.

When someone asks if my truck is for sale, my wife tells them it is but I have to go with it.

Re: backwoods garage find!

I guess I'm lucky that way. And the fact that so many of HER family has given me money or parts for it that she feels like I should keep it just to satisfy them.

Re: backwoods garage find!

oh yeah, and awesome find.....I like the stance just like it is though, I would stick with the rally wheels upgrade though.

losing the bug deflector was probably a good idea though....probably increased your mpg by at least 2-3mpg (more aerodynamics)

Re: backwoods garage find!

Well my bud got signed up for the board over the weekend but he hasn't been able to post anything yet (seems to be some delay, I'm sure a mod will be on it soon). His user name is 71see10. In the mean time he has been cleaning and wrench'n like a madman!

The alternator was whining a tad so it was swapped out. While it was out he painted the brackets and the front of the engine. The shroud was pressure washed to make it look tip top again.

The most noticeable difference is the addition of the rally wheels and flipping the tires around to the blackwall side!

And the trailer hitch was ditched!

He also rubbed out all the paint in the interior and gave his mat and pedals a good cleaning with scrubbing bubbles.

So he's here now he just hasn't figured out how to make a post yet! I am sure that you will see a lot more of it in the future. He keeps mumbling about it sitting to high off the ground.........
