Very nice truck! Cool that you and your dad had the truck in common. Sorry for your loss. Glad that you are excited about getting the truck in good shape. Keep the pics coming!
About the gas tank, a Blazer 18 gallon fits between the frame rails in back. You can also use one out of a 67-68 panel truck. You'll have to figure out where you want the filler neck to go...easiest place would be in the bed itself.
