Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
Car shows always made me mad. I liked them a lot more when I parked outside the gate. Your truck is a winner here thats for sure. Nice job on it!

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
Thanks everyone for the props. I think I just took it to much to heart. We all poor our hearts and soles into these. THANKS AGAIN.
The supercharger was not bad to install it is everything else you need to do to make sure it all works together. Not bad though. Here is a few pics from the show and some of the interior that soemone asked to see. |

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
I dont know if u have answered this or not but what year is your engine and where did u get the supercharger? Also what did u do to the engine to make it take that kind of power? Im just wondering because i want to make my truck a trailer hauler and i need more power. By the way killer truck, do you have any pictures of the befor truck and the build?

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
Robby,
It is made by ATI ProCharger. we built the motor first and then decided I wanted more power. The motor was pushing around 500 horse before we did the supercharger. We are now pushing a little over 700. I have a little to much compression but the charger will handle up to 22 lbs of boost and I am only at 8lbs of boost right now. It would create crazy numbers if I had lower compression. |

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
We have a yearly car show at my work place, the first year I entered my T/A ws6 I took 1st, the second year I took 2nd to a 78 firebird that was beat up with ripped up seats and the paint on the bumpers had so much orange peel that it was unreal, I decided then that it wasn't worth my time to enter it again. We have it again in October and I dont plan on even looking at the other cars or even going to it.

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
Heres the deal, if you go to shows that are "peoples Choice", its a crap shoot (usually ends up like your experience... so dont let that bother you). If you want to get a good idea of where your truck stands (really), then you have to attend a show that is "Panel Judged", then its really about how nicely done the vehicles are as opposed to I like red Fords. Plus, you generally get a readout with your scores.

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
That truck looks perfect! I agree with the wife about being happy to drive it
Do you have a build spec posted somewhere? I will never get my truck to that level, but I too will be happy when it's back on the road. |

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
When are you going to post a video of the truck? I sure would like to hear the procharger and that engine.

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
bskylerj,
I've had my eye on a centrifical charger for a while. I'm running about 9:1 and also have a demon on top with a MSD setup. How much compression are you running? What did it set you back? How ward was the tuning process? B-dub |

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
I would love to but can not figure out how. When I take a video it is to large even just after 5 seconds. I need to figure out how to get the size of it down somehow.

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
I am running 10:1 compression. You can use quite of bit of boost at that. Between everything that went it, fuel pump and regulater, lines, gauges, msd boost retard, jet kit for card, remote res. powersteering pump, and a few extras it was about $5000. I purchased it at supercharger store on line and after I gave them everything on the motor and what carb they sent me everything I needed to switch the carb to a blow through.

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
You have a sweet truck but I can tell you from experience that shows are gonna be like that. I have quit going to shows and just go to cruises now where there isn't any judging. Now I didn't say all shows but a lot fo them will be like that and the ones like you had where you vote........... well I can't even use the language here what I think of them. Have fun with it.

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
The unfortunate part is around here there is not a lot of cruises. I think I will just stay away from most of the shows here (I will go but not show) and do some of the out of town shows.

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
I showed my Chevelle for years and your best bet is to show it and just enjoy the day (hey it the best parking & you wont have to worry about door dings).....as has already been said any show that is people's choice or participant judged is a crap shoot with who has the most friends.....if the show has designated judges with scoring cards and some sort of point system you will stand a better chance of an honest result. Plus then you can see what a judge liked or disliked about your truck and work to correct a certain area....you usually only get this at bigger organized shows.....take the results with a grain of salt enjoy your truck it looks awesome....if you keep taken it to heart its just gonna give you an ulcer.......been there done that.....

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
Brian
You might consider the Coaster Classic at Silverwood on Labor Day weekend , i showed a car there a couple of years ago and had a blast , although it's participant judged . It's a cheap way to get into the park , the kid would love it . They usually get somewhere around a 350 car turn out . Later ...................................... oh nine.

That is one beautiful truck - you can tell there is alot of time, attention, sweat and love poured into that truck.

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
beautiful....are you running that Procharger with an intercooler? Race gas only?
I am curious if you can get 10:1 with 8psi to work on pump gas (thinking no). as everyone else said, awesome looking truck. thanks

Re: Finally able to show / took home some hardware
I am running without the intercooler. I can go to 10lbs of boost on good 92 octane. I am running some race fuel in it to be safe though. With the msd boost retard system it takes timing out as the boost climbs. Works really well. I plan on doing a methanol injection setup this winter to help cool the air charge.
