Re: Brand Loyalty
'97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited - Silver Orvis Edition - 19,000 miles. An unbelievable butt-ugly tan & dark green & red piping leather inside - who thinks of these stupid color combos ??? I just got it last month with LOW LOW retiree-driven miles. Now my daily driver, even though it's probably too rare to use it that way. Bought it too cheap not to use it up, though.
'96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo - 'ole Red - 248,000 Miles on the inline 6 and will pull (or jump) stumps as needed - it's been treated like a Jeep & still looks & drives new. Never ever been waxed & the paint still looks new. How did they do that, I wonder ?????? '92 Buick Roadmonster - 78,000 miles - the last of the Big American Iron. My wife's daily driver/tank - loaded, leather, & a super comfortable car for trips, but automatically turns right straight into the driveway of every gas station it sees - (a truly nasty habit). Shoulda bought stock in Texaco & Exxon when I bought this one. Same color as my '68 Chevy truck. '74 VW Superbeetle Gold Convertible "Sunbug" - truly rare, one of about 500 +/- made, I'm the original owner & holding at 75,000 miles --- it's in storage awaiting a (maybe someday) showroom restore. Still looks new, and worth about three times what I paid for it; going up every day '68 Chevy C-10 short stepside - 350/350 & 5 bolt Ralley rims. My avatar which "looks good at 20 feet" & very much a (sloooooow)work in progress. Probably the most fun to drive of all of them except the VW 'vert. |

71 C10, and a 1987 Honda Accord daily beater. I like all brands but have a preference for (old) GM trucks and Ford and Pontiac cars.

Re: Brand Loyalty
I like GM cars and trucks. I always have. By the way Colorado's are really not Chevys....they are Izuzu.
I do let other makes park in my driveway though...reluctantly...there is a tax though depending on what make and model you drive ![]()

Re: Brand Loyalty
I've had a lot of great cars/trucks. In order of purchase:
1972 Pontiac Grand Prix (bad ass muscle) 1970 'Cuda 1986 Toyota 4x4 1977 Datsun 280z 1993 Toyota Extra Cab 4x4 1975 GMC 4x4 SWB 1992 Toyota 4x4 1989 Toyota 4Runner 1960 Chevy C10 LWB 1968 VW Bug 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab SWB 1973 Chevy C10 4x4 SWB 1969 Chevy C10 LWB (current project) Wife had a Honda Accord when we met, I bought her a 1998 Chevy Malibu when we got married, we will trade it next year for a Dodge Ram 2500 Biodiesel 4x4 (3/4 ton version of my old truck). I try to get what I feel is the "best of breed". I'm not a big Ford fan and Mopar gets expensive. Some day I will get either my Corvette or a Cadillac CTX. Re: Brand Loyalty
I'm a GM guy all the way and was pretty disgusted with myself when up untill a few months ago all I had in my yard was a 1993 Taurus and a 1981 F150, granted one was the girlfriends car and the other I only used to haul garbage but still. Luckily I got my 1970 GMC Sierra Grande and don't mind driving in public anymore

Re: Brand Loyalty
I have no brand loyalty whatsoever, I buy what strikes me as sensible.
When Chevies are good I buy them, when not, I dont. Right now I have a Scion (toyota) for our front line daily car, but I also have 5 chevrolets, 2 pontiacs, 1 Ford, 1 Dodge, 1 Willys. I'd love to have an old Bug, or a Model A. The Chevy trucks I have of 67-72 vintage I got because they are cheap to run and repair. They have decent looks, but its a money thing with me. When they become expensive, they go.

Re: Brand Loyalty
I'm not loyal to any brand, but there is a soft spot in my heart for old
domestic pick-up trucks. Besides the two trucks in my signature I own: '79 Mercedes 300 CD (diesel coupe, Euro model)-daily driver '83 Porsche 928 S (Germany's version of a Corvette)-weekend driver '90 Ford E-350 box van (U-haul look alike, diesel powered & smog exempt) '95 Honda XR600 (street legal dirt bike).

Okay I'll play...
1971 Blazer 2wd 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Coupe (My daily driver) 2003.5 Infiniti G35 Sedan (Wife's car) Whenever the wife and I go anywhere we (meaning I) drive the G35. The GTP will be the last FWD drive car I own and it really hasn't done anything for me in terms of GM brand loyalty. |

Re: Brand Loyalty
All lined up in the sig. Except for one recently sold car which I was too embarassed to put in it. Sold off a '91 Escort and bought a '00 Chrysler minivan for work. The cool part is that I got $600 for the Escort, and paid $600 for the van. The guy said the van's engine was shot. It's amazing what replacing a never-replaced set of spark plugs will do for a "shot" engine. :P
What might be interesting is a "list all the cars you've ever owned" thread. That'd take me a few hours to figure out, as I think the grand total is over 60 cars by now. :P

Re: Brand Loyalty
I am not a big lover of the '60's and '70's fords but if I can buy this barn find as cheap as I think I can I will probably spring for it. I haven't actually seen it yet but the son in law says it shows 47,000 miles on it......

Re: Brand Loyalty
in the couple a years i own my licence i've usually drove clunkers trading them in or bring them to the wreckers and buy another one , i've been lucky sofar in the repair department .
1 opel manta A 1.9 1 opel manta B 1.9 on propane 1 mini cooper 1.3 rusted beyond repair 1 ford escort mexico (turned out to be stolen after sliding out of a corner and dove of a dock into the water 1 day after buying it and registering it to my name this made me dislike ford ever since) 1 opel corsa diesel (my verry first car after getting my licence) 1 1969 chevrolet camaro (whent to oregon and bought it put in in a garage with the idea to import it to europe never drove it though since it had no motor and trans and had to sell it because of financial problems ) 3 opel astra station (a 94 turbodiesel, 95 on propane ,and a 98 on propane) 2 opel kadett (both gas) 1 mitsubishi diesel 1 peugeot 205 1.4 actually whent quite nice as it was a featherweight 1 volkswagen rabbit type II diesel 1 chevrolet C20 pickup the future plan is to either rebuild the C20 and repair the rust on it or buy another C35 dually and use both cars to make 1 dually narrow wheelbase with fleetside bed for me and another car to sell on i've been nudging towarth GM generally but havent been dissapointed in the other marks ive driven with the exeption of ford

Re: Brand Loyalty
well i work for Ford but as you can see in my sig I no longer own one. I have had several mustangs and ford trucks. When i got my '71 from my old man i soon after bought my Tahoe and soon after that sold my last ford truck i had. Since then just recently bought the silverado, didn't need it but WAY too cheap to pass up.

Re: Brand Loyalty
I've always been GM brand loyal, as was my father before me. I have owned a handful of Pontiacs, a couple Caddy's but mostly Chevrolets. (but I have to 'fess up to owning a Datsun when I was in high school - had it about a year)

Re: Brand Loyalty
I'm not really brand loyal, but I'm trying to be American loyal.
![]() That said, I've owned a few foreign cars in the past. At the moment, this is what I have: 1970 Dodge Challenger 1972 Chevy C20 2000 Buick Regal GS (daily beater) The wife drives a different company car every day and more than half are domestic, but they don't count. Having a new car all the time sure is nice though!

Re: Brand Loyalty
I drive a 1999 Jeep Wrangler and my wife has a 2006 Ford Fusion. I also just bought a 1969 C10 that I am trying to restore. I think the new Chevrolet cars and trucks are not made very well. if I bought a new truck today id would be a Ford. If I had my choice it would be anything that is earlier than 1986 for Chevy.

For cars and trucks it is GM all the way, but all my farm tractors wear a blue oval.
