Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

The cheap tires usually have the same raised letters on the opposite side of the whites..still ugly. Very hard to find a nice clean, smooth blackwall nowdays........Joe

Here's my 2 cents. I'm all for black wall, not a fan of white letters.

BFG's all the way... I also think M&H Racemasters or Mcreary looks good on a prostreet auto. In my opinion it gives it a sporty look. If we all liked the same thing the world would be pretty boring don't ya think.

That's what I always kinda thought when I first started reading this post. However, I do like the period correct, stock'r look I have going with my Camaro-hey it's not a high horsepower machine like all the other Camaros that have had their hearts swapped out. Remember, I bought this from a little old lady that lived next door-no kiddin'. However, the next set of tires I just might go blackwall out, but that'll be in another 20 years at the rate I'm going through tires! Thanks for all the compliments on my ride guys!

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

This is a tough topic. It comes down to personal style and choice.

I like white letters on muscle more often than not. But white walls look good on the right style rig. I like white letters out on 4x4's, but good mudders don't even have them.

It's too prone to personal choice. My wife hates my truck, but she loved my old one. I for one don't care what anyone thinks of my rig, it's turning out exactly how I want it and that's all that matters.

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

I like the look of my "kelly" white letter outline tires on the '68. The two regulars trucks have full white letter tires but that is one of them is the wife's bravada with BFG's on it so I guess that it is ok, the other is my S-15 with cheapie tires on it.

The tires look much better when they are actually clean BTW.

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

me myself i like raised white letters no matter who makes em.all my trucks have raised white letters on them, except my wife's 2000 blazer.reason being that when i put tires on it they had white walls on them so inside they went.
so i really don't agree with that manly rule,i think what ever you like is it.didn't know that we had to please other people with our tires.by the way i think that camaro looked really sharp with the caps and white walls.

All Black Walls for my fleet, Not a fan of todays 20+ inch rims on much of anything though. I like a little side wall.

Cool Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

Well after living in Califoria for more than 5 minutes I can truly appreciate the whole MAN LAW thing; it's about time we had a hair-on balls movement in this country ! Growing up in my Dads bodyshop I scrubbed white walls and raised white letters till the bones stuck out the end of my fingers. Now that I'm an old fart and into the nastalgia thing I see even the old redline tires as a very important component in winning the big shows. I just got this suburban for my old lady and I'm gonna leave the Raised White Letters OUT ! for one thing I'm gonna make her scrub the tires and put this new dupli-color white letter dressing on them, so she will be a little more mindfull and not grinding the bead lip off the right sides against the curb like she did on her last car. And to me the raised white letters give it a sporty look, just like the expensive mags.
If we are going to make a man law lets make one that says you have to be able to drive over a 2x6 standing on edge. That way I don't have to pull any more of those metro-sexuals in their Curb Scrapers back to the street and they can drive their trucks and make Home Depot runs like the other MEN on the job site ! MAN LAW should be no getto buggies from Fudge Pack Mountain (Men Drive Trucks) !!!

I don't even know how your Camaro got brought in to this debate. That car looks exactly like it should with the big ol hubcaps and thin whitewalls.

Of course if I owned it.....

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

OK, the speedo dude with boots does look way dumber... I stand corrected.
Please don't take offence to teh camaro coment, as far as the car, it does look like a very clean example. And yes, I too would love to find it in my driveway one morning with the title on the dash. Honestly, i am not a camrow fan, if it was found here, the first thing I'd do is buy a for sale sign...HOWEVER... I certianly can apreciate the value, condition, and the unmolested-ness of it.... pure and granny fresh.

However, I still say the hub caps and white walls look kinda... well, I'll keep my mouth shut on that. They look totally out of place IMO.

Again, apolgies if I p!ssed anyone off.

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires

My opinion is white letter tires don't look good even if they have a cool name on them. But what about white wall tires. I like those. When I get my 68 runing im going to have 4in wide white wall tires for the old skool look.
