Re: Another header thread...

Mine are listed as Camaro and I think Chevelle.. They fit really tight. My 383 is in the V6 position and I had to grind maybe 1/4" off the motor mounts.

Re: Another header thread...

Those look great, but they look like they hang as low as the ones I have now (and they are above my $200 budget). I might run something like that if I can't find a mid-length that will work for my budget.

Heres some from Summit that are I think the same, only black for 129 bucks.
Heres some better shots to show how low it is.

Re: Another header thread...

Byrd... Those headers on ebay look a little long, especially on the driver's side??? It might be an optical dilusion but it seems the same with the ones that Pat has on his truck... It looks like the drivers side flange is sitting at or below the bottom of the frame rail. Could you please confirm this for us Pat.

I am planning on tucking my exhaust inside the frame and on top of the transmission cross member. If the flange was hanging at the bottom of the frame, the exhaust would have to bend back up and would be visible below the frame.

I have a set of the other Edelbrock's coming in tomorrow that have the o2 tube coming out the back. I will be testing them as soon as they come in and will post some pics if they fit.

Re: Another header thread...

I got an email back from the seller on the later model truck headers and it sounds like they will work. I will just plug off the o2 hole and be done. It's not ideal, but for the price, I'm not finding anything as nice.

Thanks for all the help, the people and setups on this site is out of this world. I hope to get some pics up of my rig once it's back on the ground.

Dave.

Re: Another header thread...

Well, I made a decision on headers. First of all, let me apologize for the dirty chassis and engine... It is still in the deconstruction stage.

I finally chose the Edelbrock headers listed for a 96-98 Pickup, Tahoe, Avalanche...

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

I chose them for a few reasons:

1. They have 1-5/8" primaries.

2. I like the finish.

3. The collectors are about even with the top of the frame rail and by using a mandrel bend off the collector, I will be able to tuck the exhaust up nice and tight.

4. They fit with only a slight notch required in the upper frame rail on the driver's side.

They are a bit of a compromise only for the reason the have an o2 sensor tube coming off the back of the driver's side header. I will be cutting this off and having it tigged closed.

I have included quite a few pictures so everyone can see how they fit.
