Re: Finally a picture of my 1979

I say ditch the chrome under the hood and make it look like a LS-6 bigblock in there. Orange valve covers, black air cleaner, brackets, etc...

Well it would remain blue as GM intended. I have factory blue valve covers and a black dual snorkel breather assembly. Would install those, change the plug wires and looms, and paint the performer intake blue. Leave the headers for sure. Either way I have some 781 casting oval port heads that I'll start rebuilding after the first of the year to swap in place of the peanut heads.

DITO... keep it stock looking. I like that body style with all the chrome trim... Any plans for lowering and wheels? NICE truck hiway!

Maybe 2" down all the way around and staying with the ralleys. Maybe some ten inchers later for the rear. Got to get driveshaft issues lined out first before lowering any more

That is SWEET. hard to say on the motor.. I agree the stock look will look nice but they did do a good job uinder the hood keeping it classy and simple. the new heads will waken it up some. NICE truck can't beat a big block!!!!

Very nice truck. I think that you have the right amount of chrome. Just enough to let you know that its not stock, but not completely over run.

I like your cars alot. I am a huge fan of big block shortbeds, and your truck is right up my alley. As far as the motor, it looks great now as it is. If your intent is to make the truck a resto rod, then put the stock stuff back on it. I personally believe that the blue engines really work well with chrome accents. Yours has just enough to not look too flashy.

I should have done a poll Maybe I should leave well enought alone. I do have roller rockers for it but I don't think they will fit under the stock height covers.

They won't, but there are valve cover spacers available.
