Re: The Wrecker Is Home
Ouch that cab sure it way far gone, don't forget to save the a/c dash I know that someone would love to buy that from you.
I bet that the 68 grill on the wrecker that couldn't be saved would be in pretty good condition with that huge bumper in front

Re: The Wrecker Is Home
Not to mention the DUAL Spot light's.
Those things bring a pretty mint when taken apart correctly, probably would bring you enough to buy another cab

Re: The Wrecker Is Home
The Truck originally had a 400 in it, At least that was the emblem on the fender. No motor in when i got it, I have a good 305 that may end up in it for now. I plan to go with a 68 doghouse on the Truck, I think it may be less work to put a better cab on than to try & patch this one................
Going to look at a 68 later today that has a supposedly good running 6 cyl. engine in it, If that is true that may end up in it for now just to get going & sort out what else Truck may need................... Thanks, Rick |

Re: The Wrecker Is Home
Bought the 68 Stepside off ebay, Supposed to have a Good 292 in it. Im hoping that i can use the 292 in Wrecker for now, I will then have the 68 doghouse i wanted for the Wrecker. On the + side is Im also hoping that between this Stepside & the 67 Im working on i will be able to come up with a decent bed also..........................
Took advantage of 50+ Indiana weather yesterday & got a little more painting done on the Wrecker bed................... Thanks, Rick Wrecker Pics of the 68 Stepside Truck Last edited by toomanytoyz; 01-13-2007 at 10:12 PM. Reason: Change Pics |

Re: The Wrecker Is Home
Your cab floor reminded me of the one in my orange and white. Looks like a canidate for that new goodmark floor assymbally. It looked like there was still some good parts on that 68 in the junk yard. Looks like parts for yours. I cant belive how much you have got done already. Man you work fast. Is that a 68-72 white burb behind it? If so I want to see pics.

Re: The Wrecker Is Home
I'd advise if those are concrete cinder blocks under all that weight to get rid of them and get some timbers under all that weight.

Re: The Wrecker Is Home
the first thing that comes to mind is a quote from another user,,,,,"hey dont poke at the rust , its structual" I love that , I would have bought that truck regardless of how it looks(with all the rust and work needed) I think it would be cool .
how far are you going with it? will it be a tow truck? or are you gonna have a puurty show tow truck? I would guess your gonna clean up, fix rust, patch panels, paint, new engine, mechanical up to par and use it for how it was intended, do I stand corrected? cool find ,never the less. keep us up to date, especially with the digi camera. |

Re: The Wrecker Is Home
Moving along on that project - Nice.
I think that you'll like the 292 6cyl instead of the 305 that you were originally thinking.
