Re: 72 Cheyenne Build Thread
Been awhile since I posted some progress pics.
Got some more body panels on....still need to cut and rub. I have hours and hours of aligning the bed with the cab and doors fenders...etc....HOURS...and I'm still not completely satisfied! Brake booster and master. Steering wheel restored and modified to give more room (as found on this site). I can see light at the end of the tunnel!!!

I liked the original color scheme, but the blue looks great as well. Nice truck!

Re: 72 Cheyenne Build Thread
HeavyD - I was very fond of the original color combo too, but drove it around like that for years and decided to change it. I am putting all the trim back on except the upper moldings.
IvelDesigns - I'm not sure what to do about the back of the cab.....does anyone make a carpet kit to cover it or will it be something custom? What about the front where the carpet ends and the sound deadening begins.....any solutions to hide that? ...also, where's the best place to get lower door panels and kick panels that have carpet on them (black loop). The previous owner cut some big ugly holes in the doors!!! Thanks for the compliments guys!

even though it's not very fitting considering how loud the engine will assumably be, you could fab up a fiberglass speaker box with amp for the back wall. maybe incorporate it into a center console. |

Re: 72 Cheyenne Build Thread
No major progress in the last couple weeks since I took it for its first little spin around the parking lot. On the first drive, the front crankshaft seal in the timing cover spit out and made a hell of a mess. Fixed it and have been driving it around the parking lot quite a bit (trying not to piss off the locals too much!) to work a few bugs out and mainly try to get most of the aluminum shavings out of the tank that I thought I had cleaned out the first 2 times! I have an Earl's filter before the pump that I've cleaned out probably 4 times now and another filter at the carb.
Gettin closer to throwing some plates on this thing and making it legal!

Re: 72 Cheyenne Build Thread
The color is 97-00 Corvette Bright Blue Met. or I've heard it called Nassua Blue. I had actually started painting the thing Silver at first (I love a nice clean Silver) and then decided I wanted a color a little more lively. I love the color out in the sun.
....4WD....that's the next mod...incorporate a complete Lamborghini Murcielago all wheel drive drivetrain under the truck with the 580 hp V12 in the bed!!!....guaranteed to be the only one on the block!! I love the stance of some of the air suspension trucks on this forum, but will stick with the static drop for now. With everthing back on it will still go down some more and I plan on dropping the rear a little more as well. I want the tires (17's or 18's) to just be inside the upper fender lip. ....besides, if I went with an air suspension, I'd have to have all the trick stuff....computer controller...auto leveling system...etc... That's my problem...champagne taste on a BEER BUDGET!!! Thanks again to all for the compliments...they mean alot!

Re: 72 Cheyenne Build Thread
WOW, love your truck! I was gonna have someone photochop my truck with the color on it. I don't have to now, SAME COLOR as mine, I spent 6 months cleaning, sanding and more sanding and that is all I have done is the interior and behind the cab and front of the bed. I love the fuel door relocation, very clean!!
