Re: My Nightmarish Project
yea it gave the truck a more ruff powder coated look to it. Wish i had a better camera to take a better picture. Next is the transmission so i can get this old lady rolling again.
But i have been think about painting the truck nothing special, I plan to use the new 2007 avalanch paint with the stock pin strip down the side in black. If anyone can do a pic of that for me that would be great i dont have a good camera just a polarod, so any 1980 still truck will do. thx Last edited by Srubydo1986; 02-23-2007 at 07:08 PM. |

Have to buy and them make a set of tranny cooling lines dont have anything to go by so i can make it hide it the frame i guess. 4. Cant install ac system cause missing brackets needed. 5. need to buy flywheel dont have on all mine were manual (got a new manual fly wheel but no auto flywheel) 6. got a little bit done might actually make a nice 2wd when im done Thing after completed or earlier 1. need to find a 12 bolt 5 lug rear with 3.73s dont like the 10 bolt 3.08s 2. buy a windsheild and install sliding rear window |

Re: My Nightmarish Project
Just ordered prebent tranny cooling lines ($68 shipped from lmc). I didn’t have any stock ones to measure so I could use brake line, I will although use a brake line for the modular on the tranny.
Also I’m looking for the tube that comes out the back of the motor for the oil pressure sending units. It comes up from the motor then splits in two cause my truck has two oil sending unit from what I can tell (YES TWO don’t know just does) so I’m looking for one, if any one has one let me know if some one knows where I can get one let me know. Iv tried autozone hardware stores and my other trucks nothing. |

Re: My Nightmarish Project
Ok well the motor is in as of saturday spent the rest of the weekend get what i could get done cause some of the parts i ordered from gm wont arive tell monday afternoon.
What i got from gm was a flexplate(150.00) the brass fitting(35.00) ans the kick down cable(26.95) also got torch converter bolts(12.something for 3 bolt that didnt work ) The first picture is the engine in the truck with no chrome and almost everything hooked up except electical and fuel. and this is the one with chrome. its amazing what a little chrome can do If u look at the fenders and fender wells as well as the back firewall they have all been painted with the duralast bed line spray in paint. bought 5 cans finally out after the brackets and everything else. (the battery tray is also painted the same way. The truck should be running by next weekend but really i just want my radio to work again to 8 in subs and speakers all around (ill have to take a oicture of the interor soon). I also painted soom of the radator support only what u see when truck is together it what i had left. Other then that the transmission was a tite fit had to intall tranny mount to truck then put tranny on it (clearence from tranny to floor is about 1 1/2 to 2 in.) I also spent 3 hours on making the right configuration for the tranny shift linkage had 4 bars that run across and to two that run up to column. (ill have to take picture) Hopfully all is well soon need her to run need a job. And 84 400 i have to work fast its my daily driver. |

Re: My Nightmarish Project
Wow well it is looking like it will be a sweet Driver when done. I like the bedliner idea should make for a nice lasting finish. If you need any more GM parts new give me a PM i know a guy that can get them at the employee discount.

Re: My Nightmarish Project
Got the electrical done so i could roll down the windows to replace the vent windows. Also what makes a turn signal blink when i put my turn signals on they just get brighter. One more thing the madian song to be played in the truck was ac/dc hiway to hell just thought u might find that a pit funny.
Going to pick up fitting and kickdown cable from gm tuesday so i can get this beast to roar. Only one problem when a drive shaft goes to slide into tranny its hard to do i took a junk th350 and tryed the same thing tight fit do i hammered it on when it like it should and when i went to remove it slide out with ease, is this normal? Also sents i had her electracal working i checked the tank selector out it actally works fuel changes. Only one question is it suposed to be loud when it switches. It might be cause it sat for so long but as long as it works im not worried. Ill spray wd 40 on it lossen it up some tommarow. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And now for those interior pictures i promised. the first one is the interior it a tan interior with a blackish grey seat the original seat was torn all up and some how the seats frame was BROKEN IN HALF. so i used the nicer seat out of my black c-10. The door panels are off for the vent windows to be replaced cause they were all destoryed and dry rotted. (thought about the full window conversion but a bit pricy for know at 775.00 ) The next picture is of the speakers and amp in the back im using the stock speakers in the dash as well as the ones in the rear corner intell the blow and then ill replace them. But the sub are 8 inch mtx. They're nice subs and for free i could beat it used to be in black truck. I modded the black cab so the subs could be locked down then unhooked with a key that way they couldnt be stollen (future plan for siverado). The amp is a pioner its what was in the truck when i got it the sub that it used to power were stollen when it was sitting for sell. (Hens the locking subs) Hope u injoyed this longpost and hope some one can answer some of my guestions. Last edited by Srubydo1986; 03-06-2007 at 12:46 AM. |

Re: My Nightmarish Project
For the turn signals make sure all the bulbs are good and the socket contacts are clean, that can cause crazy things to happen.
The driveshaft should have a vent hole in the trans yoke to allow the air to escape as you install the yoke. If there is no vent or it is plugged, the yoke can be tougher to install. Last edited by beaterC10; 03-06-2007 at 09:56 PM. |

Re: My Nightmarish Project
URgent need help
Got myself a little problem turns out the low hole in the transmission for cooling lines has those brass fittings in it as an adapter. All was good on top when in nice but the bottom fitting in the right size but it got bent at on time no instead of a circle is more of a slite oval. I need to remove the fitting from the transmission but it wont unscrew what is the safe way to remove the fitting with out it breaking of in side the transmission cause id rather not remove it after all that work already. Im put on a tranny cooler after the tranny line are done and drive shaft istalled and fluid pured im read to fire. Last edited by Srubydo1986; 03-07-2007 at 03:56 PM. |

Re: My Nightmarish Project
Well i got the transmission problem solved and sents it out (AGAIN) i thought i might as well paint it oringe to go with the engine (had extra can).
Anywho at one time I mentioned a custom grille that I had made in this thread so i figured id put it on the truck and take a picture. It at one time was on my c10 (as soon as i find a picture of it ill post the c10). heres the grille u might be able to tell the side bezels are not on that cause the other truck didnt have the same head light and i have painted the new oones yet but u get the idea. it says chevy in the center Last edited by Srubydo1986; 03-09-2007 at 12:44 AM. |

Re: My Nightmarish Project
Just got a major cold really through me through a loop must have sleep for 24hours. But before i couldnt go on any longer i was able to paint my rims and fix the center caps. (aka polish and paint the bases)
The rims were painted a gun metal and the bases of the caps are black instead of sliver. I dont have rings, need to find some in a junkyard i guess. Ill get some pic up on the rims soon, my first impression of the rims were that looks milatary. |

Re: My Nightmarish Project
I dont know if anyone is still reading this but i managed to get the transmission in with some help of my stepdad the senior mechanic (it good to have someone around thats been there done that).
But after installing the transmission finish retiming the engine and some wires hooked back up i though id put some transmiision fluid it the transmission well i had a dumb moment and forgot to have the drive shaft in the transmision to stop fluid from coming out though it pumped out ot sealed differently i guess. Needless to say i lose o 3-4 quarts of fluid to the ground. (live and learn) Ill go out and buy some more polariods ran out of my 40 that i had so you guys and gal can see instead of read. |

Re: My Nightmarish Project
Yeah Man we are still reading it. Sorry to hear about the cold. The germ is really going around right now. I'll tell ya what I did once on a simple oil change. I had some head work did on my first lwb. The guy changed the oil as well. He put the cheap Orielly crap back in my rebuilt engine along with their cheap oil filter. I went and bought some Kendall 20w50 and a AC filter. I drained the oil and removed the filter. When I replace the new oil filter I noticed it tightened rather quickly. I think I unscrewed it once but thought, oh well. I then added the Kendall. I went to crank the truck and the pressure came up to normal and then "BOOM" it suddenly dropped to zero. I'm saying WTF . I shut if off and step out the truck only to realize all my oil was sitting in my driveway . What a crazy mess . I went to Autozone and retrieved some more oil and oil dry. After I cleaned up the mess I removed the filter and found that the cheap Orielly oil filter gasket was still attached to the block, DUH . Needless to say it was a crazy lesson learned. It lost around four quarts on the ground. So I say to Srubydo LIVE AND LEARN. I wont forget your experiece, as well. You might also want to invest in a digital camaro one day. You can find them rather cheap at Wal Mart.

Re: My Nightmarish Project
Well she runs like a champ. after alittle tweeking for leaks on power steering it was fixed. Thought id try out the b&M transmission (also they tranny guy bored the valves) and so i sart at a dead stop and stoomed it and burned of the tires.
The last problem is this the top above the transmission pan is leaking probly caused by detent cable or the fill tube, think i filled it to much so after some test runs i parked it and going to let it stop leaking and fix the problem. After i put the hood on and stop the leak ill wash it and wax it ill take some picture with a newly aquired digtal camera that i borrowed. Right know im still surprised by the b&m transmission. Before ispection i need to fix a loss ball joint lower on driver side (never done before) and put some rubber on it, also replace the windshield. All in all i have spent only 850ish on part and materals (transmission included 400 dollars for the rebuild and install of b&m) and only spent 300 on the truck. Not bad for a Daily Driver after all that id probley never sell the truck like it to much. Far future ideas fix up what wore out and drop it with a 4/6 drop. and a paint job in bright orange like above mentioned with the black pin strip and black interior (metal on the inside will match outside). Re: My Nightmarish Project
Found the leak it around the fill tube when i istalled it the gasket/ seal pulled out and ripped need to pull it out and put a new seal around it. But was thinking of just putting rtv around it and be done with it transmission is clean and it save alot of time and headaches, What do you guys/ gals think?
If i remove the tub i have to unbolt on bell housing bolt the isnt the easyis to get to (its the top passanger side) then i have to get a seal (i think i have one) then reinstall and hope it doesnt happen again. I will still put rtv around it regardless just for added protection. One more question for you that have the interior cargo light setups. I went to put a bulb in my cargo light and when i did it would not turn off actually it would stay dim intell i turn it on. But not just that was dim even the inside light was dim when i turn the cargo light on the inside light turns off. when i remove the cargo light the inside light acts normal, any ideas?(and to help no the headlight switch is not turned to the inside) |

Sounds good man I plan to have my tranny rebuilt later this year. I might add a shift improvement kit to help out the 3.42's.
