Re: Lets Hear Some Of Your Thoughts

what a small world. it all makes sense now though because shawn told me about your truck, he was telling me about your truck and said id like your wheels and tires, i need something badly! i put ralleys on it when my dad and i fixed the truck up but now that ive got my running gear all done ill be able to get some nice wheels. first thing in the spring though is i want to get the paint job fixed in a couple spots (wet sanded in a couple spots where the clear ran and get the whole truck polished up) anyways good to hear from ya, DEREK

Re: Lets Hear Some Of Your Thoughts

Looks great. Can't wait to see it with some rubber sitting on the ground. The body work looks great also. You are doing a great job from the looks of it.

Are your bags going on this winter? Keep us posted.

Re: Lets Hear Some Of Your Thoughts

A guy I know in town bought his setup through Suicide Doors (*****************) and had it shipped up from the US. He seems happy with the service and I think he got a fair price. The only problem with US purchases is the shipping and brokerage fees.

I bought my Air Ride Technologies setup through a place in Vancouver called Lowriders (lowriders.ca). My setup is pretty simple... Full front kit w/ Firestone bags, upper plates, lower cups and new shocks. Rear kit is an air-over-leaf system. You would want the Coolride setup for trailing arms. It included the bags, upper plates and lower bracketry. And, an air management kit which included a small 2-gallon tank, compressor, fittings, air lines and a dual paddle pneumatic switch and dual needle gauge. Total setup including shipping and taxes - $1700 Canadian.

Re: Lets Hear Some Of Your Thoughts

Nice looking rims you picked!

C10-Driver What is your total rear drop? I am doing the same set up for Project Low buck truck build and have not started this part yet. Am I wrong in thinking between 6-7"? Also were did you get the U-bolt kit or what is it off of?

Thanks

I had the U-bolts bent up for me at the local spring shop... Complete with washers and nuts it cost me about $30 Canadian. I did a rear flip and re-used the existing plates that were originally mounted on the bottom of the axle. I could have used the stock leaf spring U-bolts except I turfed them last year when I did the flip because they weren't in the greatest shape.

My total drop is going to be about 9-1/2" deflated. I had about 7" from the flip and a re-arch of the springs then I added a 1-1/2" drop shackle and and a custom lowering block that gives me about another 1". Part of the reason for the block is to offset the axle back about 3/4" which will move the rear wheels back towards the centre of the wheel opening.

This should sit the suspension down on the bump stops inside the C-notch when all the air is out. I mounted the upper plates about 3/4" down from the top of the frame so that at ride height (about 7" drop), the tapered bag will be about 9" tall, which is the recommended ride height on the F9000 bags that came with my kit.

Here are some pics for you. Sorry I don't have anything better. My frame is out for powdercoating right now. When I get it back and have the rear end assembled, I can take some more for you if you like.

Re: Lets Hear Some Of Your Thoughts

Thanks, I am not going that low on this one because it is going to be an all around truck used for towing, cruising, part runs and what not. I am going to use the stock rear leafs (hence the name LOW BUCK) and add a set of ART bags for leveling while towing. I am wanting about 5-7" and I will be able to adjust things abit with shackles or moving hangers up or down.

Re: Lets Hear Some Of Your Thoughts

Thanks C/10 Driver -- That Sounds Like A Good Price For A Bag Kit Did You Have To Buy Any Thing Else Or Did The Kit Come Complete? Was It Easy To Install? Did The Bags Fit In The Original Ft Control Arms? I Have The Coil Rear Susp That Should Make It A Little Easyer I Hope. Looks Like To Did A Great Clean Job On Yours.
