Re: Frustrated...Need to Vent...

Another!! (mine)
http://eugene.craigslist.org/car/282192102.html

Selling out my recent saved projects to lighten the load on family. I sold a great 72 4x4 swb, was posted on here, sold to guy 19 hrs away (different advertisement source). Sight unseen cash deal except for pics and he flew in and drove home. Sold a parts truck and my beautiful original 69 swb local too. Will sell this 72 in link above and move on. I almost always price it right and sell to 1st guy/gal that comes to look.

My experience here on boards is trucks rarely sell to each other. I did buy and sell my blazer here. Most are looking for smoking deals. I haven't seen one of those here or elsewhere for 2-3 yrs. I do see lots of fairly priced trucks and many overpriced. If you truely want a truck to drive, fix up and enjoy they are out there. Many of us can tell the truck, muscle car deal stories of years ago. Be careful though in evaluating these things. What would $1000 invested 12 years ago be worth today in reasonable risk investment? Much of the increases I see can be viewed as inflation. Sure our trucks are more popular now but they made a ton of them. Only rare high option trucks or good restored ones may make sense as investment. This is a little removed from subject but I it felt fit well enough to post. My opinion on my truck is that it is a great deal for someone looking for something like it. Sure we would all love to pick it up for $800 but I never see that any more. I am being reasonable and trying to get most of my money back on the ones I have let go. I try to buy the best truck I can afford for the needs I have.

Re: Frustrated...Need to Vent...

Just wanted to give everyone an update!! Thanks to a Great Board Member I will be getting a truck again very soon!!! I already have a name for it:
Project Second Chance!
It is based on the fact that I foolishly sold my truck before and now I am getting a 'Second Chance' to have the awesome truck I should have never let go. Here are some pics of my old trucka nd the new truck I will be resurrecting:
Old Truck

New Truck 'Second Chance'

She is relatively rust free. The cab on the back doesn't come with her, But that's okay because the doesn't need it!!! And the blazer tank conversion and the sidemarker fill are already done to boot!!!!!Thanks again to all the baord and especially the board member who made this possible!

Wow. Does he have more? When I read your vent - it made me feel better not having to vent about the same thing myself. I'm still looking though...

Looks like a great project, good work!

Re: Frustrated...Need to Vent...

Keep your hopes up! I have been buying these trucks for years in the Northeast and have many rustbuckets, but until last year have never paid more than $400 dollars and they all moved under thier own power. I finally paid $1000 for a 72 C10 that was almost rust free. Now I have to put that on one of my 4X4 frames. They are out there you just have to keep looking.

Re: Frustrated...Need to Vent...

Great news on finding a truck, I've had one given to me, needs work, but not impossible, I gave that one to my son after putting a fresh 350 and trans in it, and my other son found one for $100.00 needs work but thats what a project is for. My 72 I found running and driving for $1300.00. I missed one a month ago for $225.00 running and driving, the great deals seem to come my way when I don't have the extra cash.

Re: Frustrated...Need to Vent...

Forgive me if I tread on the rules here, not trying to thread-jack or make a 'wanted' posting, but thanks boogie for the offer. I won't be spendy this time, we are talking under 1500 and it has to be close to running. Texas is a bit far to drive for something I can't afford anyway.

Thanks though
-Brian

Re: Frustrated...Need to Vent...

I picked this one up a couple of weeks ago south of Ft Worth for $2750. The carb leaks, but its pretty much a rust free truck.

I think we're riding the coattails of the mussel car craze. All the aging Boomers want 'em. For insurance purposes, I have mine apparaised by certified appraiser every year. It's an everyday driver and it's five figures and climbing every year! It's nuts, but I'm guessing it'll peak out in a few more years.

Re: Frustrated...Need to Vent...

I looked for a 69 lwb for almost six months> same story pieces of junk or overpriced trash. I finally gave up. Long story short a guy at work saw my old Chevy t-shirt and said I've got one like that in the yard. Now it's mine.
It's like a girlfriend when you aren't looking a good one might come along.

Re: Frustrated...Need to Vent...

If you're willing to drive to oklahoma, I know ONE road that has about 10 of these trucks and a couple of burbs... not sure how many are for sale, but have never seen any of them moved. Most likely not a daily driver if they haven't been moved so might not be worth the hassle.
