your right on..............i started with the cheapest angle of attack..cap.. the cap was bad..problem solved.i got pressure.i'm still reading about 1/4 on the c to h range closest to c..but i got a new 4 row.it never seems hot.so,i've really got no reason to think it's wrong.i guess i could try the old meat thermometer trick.

Okay, I tried making some sense of all that, but as usually I failed miserably, lol So here's my problem - I have a '79 Chevy C10 with a C-H temp gage. The sender is located in the left head behind plug #1, is pretty darn big in diameter, and when used with a 160F thermostat makes the gage read in the middle of the C-H range. Same setup when used with a 192F thermostat makes the temp gage read straight in the red area behind the "H" mark. I'm pretty sure these engines like the 192F thermostat, so really the 192F thermostat should make the gage read exactly where the 160F makes it read. Reason for all that mess - my truck came with a straight-6, and it has a 350 V8 swapped in it. What temp sender do I need to make the gage read lower?
Edit: I also have a new Offenhauser 360 intake waiting to be installed, it has ports for both the large and the small senders, so fitting a sender with diameter different than my current one ain't no issue at all.

I would get on autozone.com or another similar site. Look up the sender for your truck with the six cylinder since that is the one that should work right with your truck. See if it is the same as you have. If not, try using it.
