Great project, Scott...that is a real look of determination. When I have had my sheet metal down that far, I almost want to clearcoat it and drive it...LOL!

Here's some more progress. Getting right down to the frame. Next will be to pull the motor and tranny, the rest of the front suspension and all of the rear suspension. Then I will be cleaning up the full frame. Oh what fun!

Re: My 69 Long Bed Progress Build Pictures
Yeah the truck sat since 1992! It was in rough shape. Not sure where I am going to go from here. Rebuild the i6 but convert over to auto tranny.

Re: My 69 Long Bed Progress Build Pictures
Some more progress tonight. Got the engine on the stand and started the tear down process. Now I have a question, Why is 1970 stamped on the side of the engine when my truck is a 69?
Well here are some more pictures. |

Re: My 69 Long Bed Progress Build Pictures
Thats what my truck looked like two years ago, just puttin her back together now. Mine was in similar or even worse shape if I can remember. I would trying looking for parts vendors here in canada in stead of getting everything from the states. I know theres a couple here in alberta and i wouldnt be surprised if there were some in bc.

Re: My 69 Long Bed Progress Build Pictures
Yeah I haven't tried looking for vendors in bc yet. I will be looking for a rebuilt kit for my inline6 while I am fixing up the frame.

Re: My 69 Long Bed Progress Build Pictures
Well after cleaning up the garage, decided to measure up the frame to make sure is was straight. Well no good. The front just past the engine mounts is totally out of wack. Decided to just pickup another frame and start from there.

Re: My 69 Long Bed Progress Build Pictures
Okay, well I picked up another long bed bare frame. This one is straight. Now time for hours of grinding and wire wheels to clean the frame up. Then etch primer, and base coat then I think silver frame paint.
Going to order my front and rear suspension parts once I decide what drop I am going with. Will post pics later of the new frame |

Re: My 69 Long Bed Progress Build Pictures
Glad you found another frame. Looking forward to seeing the silver outcome. Should look awesome. Did you decide on a company for your drop kit yet?

Re: My 69 Long Bed Progress Build Pictures
I think I am going to go with 3.5" front drop and 5" rear drop. Maybe Early Classic stuff.
