Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1) November 2005 and I paid 5300.00
2) A fire department in Evansville, Indiana 3) 1972 GMC 2500, 350 w/4 speed, 32000 miles, no rust, PTO winch 4) Found and bidded on Ebay and won the bid with 1 second remaining. This was my 1st time buying on Ebay and wife made the winning bid with me telling her how to on the phone. She had never been on Ebay before. She loves the truck as much as I and she insist that we were meant to own this truck. 5) On a scale of 1 - 10 I would rate it a high 8

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
I paid $450 my 1972 Long box 4x4. 155,000 miles on 350. Wood bed and newer tires and breaks. Repainted in 1998 but it was a pretty shotty job. Lots of bondo in the doors and fenders. It was a daily driver until the th350 lost forward gears. It might just need some tranny fluid as the day that it went out it was 3 degrees out. I got it from a friend that needed the money for a car to replace this truck. It has been in another friends pole barn since January and I havent had the time to check it over a whole lot. It starts and runs perfect though. Can't wait till spring!!

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
(1) mid-Feb 2007; $750
(2) Swap Sheet (CNY weekly want ad) (3) 1967 C20, HD springs (coil rear w/ aux leaf), 292, SM420, wood bed, fresh-air heater, beige vinyl, AM radio; really, really low rear-end gears (4) see 2 (5) maybe a 4-5? Runs good--incorrect, '75 250 though--and much less rust than usual for this area--cab floor edges, rear corners, brake lines were bad. Bed a bit bashed up, it was a farm truck for many years; wood is rotted but has plywood over top. A project to be sure but one that can be used while fixing it up. |

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
I bought mine in May 2006.
I traded a 1996 Jeep Cherokee with a blown motor and $500 to guy about half hour from my home. One of the guys in my car club actually found it and told me to go look at it, since he knew I was looking for a C-10. 1968 C-20 with wood bed, 327 Sb, automatic. I would rate my truck a 5 when I got it, and about a 7 now. |

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1. April 2005 for $2200 (originally wanted $3800)
2. Jackson, TN 3. 1969 Custom 10, very few options: molding, custom comfy maybe a few more 4. Found on Cars.com 5. Not sure how to rate. I'd call it a 4 or 5. I'm very happy w/ it. Except for minor mechanicals and the rallys, my avatar shows how it looked when I picked her up. I've learned a lot from this truck and the board. No regrets whatsoever.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1) I purchased my 67' in November of 06'. He asked $1500 but i mentioned I wanted it for a senior project... he said come pick it up for $1000
2) Good ol' Auto Locator 3) 1967, LWB, plain jane, wood bed, straight 6 4) My dad told me that whatever i wanted to build for my senior project was up to me. I wanted to build something lowered, while he wanted to do something 4wd. I wanted to haul motorcycles around, but wanted something with that cam'd V8 rumble and something no one else had-and I wanted to stay as far away from anything 4cyl as i could! we almost picked up another Rx-7 and put a V8 in that, but i want a sweet truck! (my brother has a RX-7 and my mom just got one, also. AH im surrounded by rice!) 5) Condition=poor. probably around a 3 to 5. it has the rust on the cab corners, the bed was beat on, but it was a farm truck and i fell in love with it-plus it was a deal and my dad was into it. you should also include what you got with your deals! Like the guy included all the sheetmetal i needed. cab corners, rockers, everything i needed, plus receipts on over $600 total of stuff. plus the bed was sandblasted and a mint tach dash. I also have a 69'... 1) December of 06', $500 2) Ebay 3) 1969, Chevy C10, 350 V8, steel bed floor 4) mom/dad wanted to get something that we could use the title for my 67 (or 69) and we found it with a rebuilt V8, new radiator, 2 sets of wheels, 5) pathetic. Honestly its in much worse shape than my 67'. doors are bondo'd, one bedside is in okay shape, but it has what we needed plus some other stuff. 6) included-3spd, 4 spd, new radiator, some misc. stuff, holley carb, edelbrock RPM intake, 2 sets of wheels, and new headers. plus a sketchy previous owner. the drivers side bedside's wheelwell is totally destroyed-he lost the tire and "claims" he had just lost it, but the brake drum has about 3 inches scraped off of it, plus he tried to fix a thread on the tranny and left his tap in the trans. |

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1) February 2006 for $2000
2) Crown Point Indiana, about 10 minutes away from my house 3) 69 shortbed, very little rust, no dents, 350, 3 on the tree 4) Seen it drive by on the street(no for sale sign), came home decided to look for one online and found the actual one I seen driving. 5) 8 I thought it was a steal for a straight shortbed with a 350, so I jumped on it

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1. When: October 2006 for $2000.00
2. Where: South Houston Body Shop 3. What: 1972 C10 Cheyenne Super Long Bed, 402/TH400, loaded pretty good. 4. Who: The guy I bought my 78 C10 from, said he had this project truck he wanted to sell. I followed up on it about a year later. 5. Condition: About a "3" when I bought it. It had a rebuilt engine and trans with about 10 miles on it (numbers matching supposedly). A/C was charged up with a new compressor and about 30% of the bodywork done. Condition Now: About a 4. I just put it back together and made a driveable truck out of it until I can finish it. (rounding up more parts and $$$ for a paint job) |

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
April? of 2002
when we got it, it was a 3, now its an 8.39 (car show score) We found it when we were attending a farm auciton. It was parked in this shed across the street from the auction and dad noticed it. It was a relative of the person who was having the auction. We paid 1,200 for it You can see the trucks people drove to the auction in the background. We bought it that day. Sorry its huge......

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
So far that's an average of a little over $1,500 per truck. Unscientifically I would say the further East you go the more you are paying. But there are too many other factors to make this valid.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
These are great stories. As far as what one paid and if one paid to much or not for their truck? If you are happy with what you paid then you got a good deal. Maybe I paid to much for my truck but I like it and that's what counts...they are all classic looking no matter what condition they are in. Another point...99.999999% of the people who own these trucks are classic people which match their classic trucks.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
I got mine from a neighbor 4 streets up the road. Paid $750 for it. It had the rust in the rockers and kick panels as well as the 350 in it was blown. I spent another $500 for a 350 crate motor with 8000 miles on it and another $1000 to get the 400 turbo rebuilt. Not too bad considering the trucks around here were starting in the 3000 range.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
I bought my 69 in the fall of 2004? I was at work & telling the old truck owner that I needed an engine for the '84 GMC that I was building & he told me he had a 396 that I could buy cheap. It was his son's & he had grown & moved away. I asked him how much & he said "Hmmmm 3-4 hundred bucks?" I went & looked at it & it was still in the truck. I went back & he said that I had to take the whole thing. I told him Id split it & quickly handed him $350... It was sitting behind the local body shop without a bed. I talked to the body shop owner when I went to pull it home & he said there had been at least 25 people wanting to buy it. Must have been my lucky day. The body shop owner called me the next week to see if I was gonna pick up the box for it. Got lucky again... I cant rate it, its a 10 to me & probably a 3 to others...
I decided to keep the 396 with the 69 & sold the 84 to the body shop guy... Heres what it looked like the day I brought it home... Last edited by corn; 10-10-2009 at 12:19 PM. |

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1) March 1998 for $800
2) Wally World parking lot by all the other vehicles for sale. 3) 68 C10 SWB. 307 and 3 on the tree. Pretty much it. 4) My dad and I were driving around the parking lot waiting for my mom and sister and came across it. 5) It was a 5 when I got it. Body was decent with some bad spots and the engine only ran on 4 cylinders. The tranny would only go into reverse when the moon was full. Now its a 7 workin on an 8.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
2003, $500, CARS4567 dropped it off since he had no place to store it. Non-running and had been sitting for 6 years under a tree in Sandy, OR. Plain Jane with 283 and Powerglide. About 2 condition, both rockers missing and just about every piece of sheet metal, including the cab, had to be replaced. I'm not complaining...I got it running and have had a ton of fun with it.

paid a 100 bucks for it
found and and bout it of a local guy about 20 miles from me. As for the rating..... hmmmm I'd have to say -10 when I got it, now maybe a 5 but its still not running so I'm hoping to bump that rating up soon.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
It was last November for $900. I got tired of waiting for a decent 67 to 68 Camaro to come on the market for under 10K. I had a buddy in high school who had a 70 truck that we all liked, and thought- I may never be able to afford a Camaro, and these trucks are actually affordable. Plus you can get parts now for them, so I started looking around.
Found about 10 on Craigslist the first day, so I got picky and waited... Then I found her: 1972 Chevy c-20. 108K miles, 2nd owner, AC, 402, turbo 400 with pink fluid, power discs, tilt wheel, factory rims and hubcaps, posi, sway bar, sliding rear, toolbox, 3 gas tanks, heavy rear susp, custom camper, cargo lamp, deluxe package, Medium Olive/ White, etc. Missing chrome trim and tool box door though. Runs like new. The rockers were rusty but were fixed for $50, plus some spray paint. Still needs tires, brake pads, the correct grill, and the AC converted. I'd rate it a 5 or 6? |

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
Paid $5000....1968 50th all original with 32,000 miles. The only thing not original is the battery and wheels and tires. When I bought the truck it still had the original wheels and tires.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
Found mine in the local paper on my lunch break just browsing with nothing better to do, not even looking for a new truck, but I thought a '71 Stepside for $1000? I wouldn't mind taking a look... It was BYOC... (Bring your own carburetor) once I heard it start, I talked him down to $900 plus a free $150 tow to my house (an hour away) and against everyone's advice lol... So I guess that's $750...
Then, I would rate it a 3 depending on how you felt about the custom work, but no rust at all. Now it's a hot looking 5. Having to sue the lot for the title and the damage done on the tow tho...
