Or... dry-brush on some oil or vaseline. Brush needs to be verrrrrrrrrrrrrry rough cut and verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry dry (I've used one brush to brush oil on another, then shake out the working brush really hard for several minutes, then dab it off on a rag until it's practically dry). Brush the area you're going to paint, use sign painter's ink for all the lettering, let it dry, then come back with the ScotchBrite. The oil will let some of the paint break free. The ScotchBrite will give it the general scuff look. Voila.

hmmm, I was thinking the "dry" and "Vaseline" contradicted each other, and the Scotchbrite just sounds like it would really chafe too much.

well i don't know about all the lubes and vasoline, but here are a couple of pics with some 18 and 20 budniks. highly unlikely to stay on here, but it was a test fit. will probably use the stock style or something more basic. give me a yea or ney on what you think

Wheels are nice, but it takes away from the point of having a patina paint job IMO.

I went back to the shop, and we already took them back off. its up in the air... maybe a set of 18inch painted ralley wheels??? who knows

I kinda like the patina paint with clean wheels. I think they look better then wide whites on 15 inch wheels.

Or..... Use some similar Budniks but w/the centers 'as cast' for the nostalgic look of the 60's gassers. Maybe paint/coat every other spoke so it still has a traditional 5-spoke look.

What are the brakes?
Are those the Marquez billet trim pcs. for the tail/reverse lights?

I have nothing against billet wheels but I think some kind of steel wheel or a wheel that has a steel look would fit the theme the best.

That truck really lost it's "look" with the Budniks. Now some TTII with the cast grey centers in the same size as the Budniks would look pretty good I think. Some big rallys might look good but it's hard to say.

I'm pretty sure it's from Marquez Designs. They're the one's making all the billet 67-69 Camaro taillight housings, trim, & now they even make selected interior trim for some years.

Not to hijack the thread but Shane, have you tried thinning the paint with dirty thinner? Ive heard thats how the good ones are done. Then scotchbrite...

Then it sounds like you're back to PB's suggestion. Maybe you can find one of those car wax companies that used to "simulate" weathering on the commercials to show you how well their stuff held up. I can't remember any by name, but maybe Ron Popiel can point you in the right direction

Similar method to the oil one I described above (except for all the bashing mine got

). The objective is to have some paint not adhere well.

Billet wheels would look really good on that truck, I just think the Budnik's in the pics were the wrong choice for this truck. I still vote for some Twisted Vista's, or even some Centerline smoothies would look good. Someone photoshop some Intro's on there, I think they would really set that truck off.
