Re: 1980 silverado what to do?

im reviving an old thread to ask a stupid question.
i just aquired an '80 chev that i may part out. i prefer the looks of the round lights but like the one year only idea of the single square head lights and may use them on my short box project.

stupid question is can you still buy replacement square headlights?

Re: 1980 silverado what to do?

I'm pretty sure (just about positive) that in all 80 the Silverado package had the square headlights and for the other models they had the round (all year). I like the idea of the "unique" approach but I vote round headlights ALL the way.....

You're correct that the square headlights were standard on Silverado package equipped trucks, but they were also part of the RPO V22 package which consisted of the square headlights and chrome grille, available with other trim levels. I've seen Scottsdale trucks with square headlights before.

I personally like the square headlights in 1980.

I think the 80 square headlights are bigger then the 81-87. Check LMCtruck or ChevyDuty

I vote round eyes...., and GMT those aren't the headlights in question, they were discussing the larger square ones.

Re: 1980 silverado what to do?

I remember first seeing the square lights on the Fall Guy tv show. I don't think this is an actual show truck but its similar and I dig it

Now I usually have always been a big fan of stock look trucks but this look is kinda growing on me without the stock side trim, and plus its the much shunned longbox that makes it even better

Re: 1980 silverado what to do?

I vote for round but that is because of my Blazer never really cared for the look of square ones anyways. Just for example not mine

Re: 1980 silverado what to do?

all 73-79s had round lights

New for 1980 was the square light option;standard on Silverado/Sierra Classic/Chevy Sport/Street Coupe

Optional on all other models as part of V22 deluxe front appearance option

Cost in 80 was 60.00

As far as I know no 79s were built with square lights

Re: 1980 silverado what to do?

The square headlights on the 80 make the nose look like a Dodge. I have never liked them, in fact I changed the buckets on my 79 over to 73-78 for that exact reason.
