Not making it taller... just making the hood opening smaller. This gets rid of the pinch weld on the hood that would normally sit right above the tire. I will post some more pics up tomorrow... hopefully it will start to make some more sense to ya! Take a good look at the digital rendering in post #11... that gives a good visual of how the hood will open.

I’ll throw my own opinion out since my wife doesn’t check what I say on this forum and this better not get back to her! Anyway, I think the two-tone would look better because it would take your eye away from the new hood line which may cause it to look a little bulky since all the fender lines and hood lines have moved upward. Painting the top black would also help with making the fenders not look so tall……you know Nathan what if you pan-caked the hood a couple of degrees and then lay the windshield back the same degree?

The windshield is getting layed back. As for pancakeing the hood... it would be slick, but not my call! I too would like to see it in the two-tone, for all the same reasons!

Beat me to it. I'm not a big fan of the two-tone in general, but it does solve the problem of hiding the unnatural line the hood mod creates... especially at the cowl. How about either...

welding up the cowl into a giant 1-piece front end with the hood tiliting as you've now got planned? This would eliminate the hood-to-fender seam back at the cowl.

Or... what about integrating the cowl into the hood itself? That's give you a single hood line from glass, to the top front edge, back to the glass. It'd take a little work on getting the hood tilt to pitch out enough to clear the glass, but you'd just have to ply your mad skillz to it.

That is some nice work. Had a question about the wheels. I wanted to get the specs on them like BS, 22x? things like that I want to run 22" on my 68 suburban. Will PM the question to you too.

I agree and with the mad skillz (as XXL put it) that porterbuilt has it would look awesome IMO also.

I cut it there because it would be too short when I went to graft it back in, and figured the easiest place to graft a filler piece in would be the edges. The hood leaves about an 1/8" to 3/8" gap on each side normally, then I cut about an 1/8" off the fender lip and the old hood lip so I could graft the two pieces together that means + or - 3/4" too short on each side when I went to fit the piece up. We will see how short it really is tomorrow. (XXL don't quote me on this!)

Those are some good ideas on the hood... sounds expensive to me! I doubt that we will see that mod taking place on this truck. Maybe another project in the future?

Man its like the difference between a surgeon and a chainsaw massacre, i usually hate seeing one cut up but this is some really nice work you guys are doing there, I'm sure the waitting list probably reflects it.
