changed the driver side u bolt on the rear trailing arm, the old one was loose and i couldn't tighten up due to rust. Ive done some PITA jobs before, and this one is at the top of the list.

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

Spent all Saturday at a humongous swap meet in Portland. Picked up new rally wheels, manifold, carb (Edelbrock 600 on the recommendation of many of you), headlight trim (wrong ones - d'oh!), and a bow tie for my hood. Today I changed the plugs, did some misc. touch-up, sanded down some rusty parts from under the hood. Then, just before it got dark, I took my sawsall out, crawled under the truck, and cut off about 4.5 feet of pipe from each side. Started to cut some more in preparation for slapping on some tips, but the blade broke. Looks like I have my first project for next weekend.

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

drove my burb around a little, but was mostly busy with moving stuff to storage since I will be moving the family to northern california in a week. Looked at this old moving truck that I might buy to help in the move.

I'm not sure which I would rather find! the mud would be better for me but the wasp nest is better for the truck.

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

friday i went out to the storage place and checked on my bros '59 f100 and aired up one of the tires and put a tire chuck i built on the '72 galaxie we just put in there, and i had my cam so i was playin around and taking pictures of the other cors i liked in there which i will post on the forum later on, then saturday me and my bro went out to the dirttrack to pit for a buddy and after hotlaps, qualifing and some heat races it started sprinkling which turned into a light rain so we had a rain delay for about 10min or so then when it stopped they sent out the imca modifieds and superstreets (my buddys class) to wheel pack and after a bit the track was still slick but ok to race on so they sent out the hobby stock semi, and after they ran it started to just sprinkle again but they ran the minisprints anyway but when they came off the track it started raining again and got into an actual rain so we loaded up the car, got everything in his '87 suburban and attempted to pull out with a trailer and 2wd in the rain and mud, but we made it out fine even after slowly creeping through about 9ft of just tirespinning mudness and went to his house and drank and goofed for a bit then came home and today had a family dinner and goofed of and had fun

sorry for the ramble

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

Went to the Charlotte Auto Fair. Saw a lot of sweet rides. I spent about $250 in parts, about $150 of which was to replace the bumper and license plate bracket from getting rear ended The rest was little interior pieces.

I labored intesely installing the new door lock knobs and vent window arms

Oh, my starter wire did break off when I got home (talk about lucky!) I put a new end on and put it back on the starter.

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

Spent the weekend rebuilding the dash and engine wiring harness, the dash harness was really chopped up, but it's all repaired and retaped now. Saved me a couple hundred bucks not having to buy a new one.

The engine compartment wiring had to have the tape removed so I could eliminate and reroute the altenator wires to the other side of the engine. I removed the original wiring for the old distributor at the firewall plug and installed new wire for the HEI.

Eliminated old voltage regulator wiring and basically repaired/replaced any defective wiring, cleaned and retaped. My brain is fried!!

Installed new firewall padding, cleaned and repainted various interior pieces.
Pretty productive weekend.

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

Ran a 5k sat. morning, gave blood at lunch, ran a 10k in the afternoon....sat on my butt for the rest of the day.

Sun....I finally got off my butt and replaced the seized U-joint in the front drive shaft (all the needle bearings had turned to rust/dust). Installed the driveshaft in the front (finally have a 4x4 again!). Then I pulled the rear driveshaft to swap in my 4.10 eaton third with locker (gotta have the rear gears match the front!) Would have finished that job yesterday, but the parts store didn't have ANY eaton gaskets.....ordered the diff. gaskets this morning, and made the axle seals last night! I will have lockers front and rear before the end of the week......I wonder if my bald tires with lockers can still get me out of a mud pit?

Found a real nice original fleetside tailgate, with a Blazer attached to it. Should be in my yard in a week or so.

You got a pic of it? I probably stopped and looked at it. Was it in the car corral? Is yours a blue stepside with a big block in it?

Were you able to get the center bar off? I dont know what the deal was, but i couldnt get that center bar off the pins for anything. I just replaced the weights/bushings and used the silver springs from that same mr. gasket setup. I thought the blacks were too weak and the golds were too strong. Which ones idd you use?

Re: What did you get done? 4/15/07

On thursday I bought a new blazer tank, outer door skins, inner door bottums and door glass seal kit. Going to star doing the doors soon but first I had to do some other body work. On sunday I got old fuel hole filled up and spent quite a few hours on doing the bondo work on and inside the cab. Hoping to start driving this thing in a couple months.
