Re: Factory Sliding Window?
I'm changing from a slider ( non original ) to a flat glass. I went to the wreckers last week and got a rear window from a 70. Its scratch free and I am going to take it and get it dark tinted before I install it. My truck is a Custom/Deluxe and has the ss trim around the windshield and I'm thinking I'd like it around the rear window as well. I see LMC lists a gasket for no ss trim and another with ss trim.

Re: Factory Sliding Window?
67CHIP72 your right, I wasn't going to the plant when I was 13, I was going during the years 76 to 78 when I was 17 to 19 years old. The stories the same. I also installed rear sliders where I worked for over 5 years on 67 to 72 year models. Amongst every other brand and year you can think of.
Here's where you can get the installation tool for the trim. Also I would wrap a couple of layers of tape around the inner part of the hole on the handle side to keep it from scratching the ss trim. It's listed under "RGTOOL". http://www.americanclassic.com/asp/d...ype=to&exyear=

Re: Factory Sliding Window?
KBS71,I guess I`m wondering about the factory sliders in 67-72,only.So,you`re refering to windows you installed aftermarket.I`ve done the same thing over the years. If a truck had trim,it kept it when I installed the slider.I just found it an interestng tidbit that for some reason GM used standard gaskets on "all" factory trucks with sliders. You don`t miss the trim since the slider has an aluminum frame that adds more silver around the opening than the trim.Although, not as shiney.
