Re: Who's Done This

I have two 68 hoods... i just might need to give this a try this winter. I agree with the comments about bending it toward the front and keeping it level to the back.

looks killer for a first try though. always nice to see someone jump right in and make their truck their own with no fear.

Re: Who's Done This

to answer a few questions no there are no braces it is more solid now then it was factory as in meaning the hood does not vibrate or bounce and i only used 1 hood and had two strips cut to the size i wanted tack welded them in then trim the extra off to what you want

Re: Who's Done This

your hood looks awesome i think i will mess with mine but keep it lower to the hood great job

couple questions

1- how wide is the cowl like how far did u measure out from each side of the center of the hood

2- how did ya form the front as in the center line of the hood that sticks up did it just bend with the hood or did ya cut it and reform it after the hood was bent up

seems like it would crinkle or fold when the hood bent up

i measured24 inches (12 inches from center)wide and yes you will have to notch the center right at the front and a few more to get it to bend when you do it you will see were you need to notch it i made my side pieces 5 inches high then trim the extra after you get it were you want it and you should be able to use any size sides to grt the height you want this was my first attempt at this and now i have three more to make have two sold and i need 1 more for my gmc

Re: Who's Done This

You did a great job on this!
I love the extra tall 'Outlaw" look you wound up with.
What does it look like from inside the truck? Did you leave the back of the cowl piece open for air flow or ????
That is a true one-of-a-kind. Good onya for getting with your own idea and finishing it up.

Like the dash. Kinda been thinking along the same lines. Much of a hassle putting it together?

im going to be doing an L-88 hood for my truck eventually... should look really nice considering the bulky curves throughout the body of the truck plus nobody has done it yet

it's not to bad you need to tear it all apart and do some cutting to the clear plastic face and the metal backing plate but it's not to bad
