Curious if this is not the case with the SSR or TB SS engines

Re: Killers 5.3L install
Do the SSR and TB SS use the same block configuration and pan?

Re: Killers 5.3L install
I am not sure if they use the same configuration, but I know that they both have the dipstick in the oilpan. Someone from ls1tech was saying that they had to do what I did with there trailblazer engine.

Re: Killers 5.3L install
i remembered seeing a post in the past couple weeks over there about drilling the block for the TB SS pan (in fact, i replied in it asking). i completely forgot about that - either way, this is excellent information to consider for anyone doing the swap.

Re: Killers 5.3L install
on the oil dipstick, the block on the TB has the boss machined where the dipstick would go, but isnt drilled all the way through... so get a 3/8 drill bit and drill it through (about 1/8" of material)... easy thing to do.
got the block, water pump, and acc. bracket painted and installed back on the block... starting to look like a enigne again Last edited by 68 short step; 01-10-2008 at 08:43 AM. |

Re: Killers 5.3L install
Carlos, this guy could throw the towel in on the aircraft and still make a good living with this type of work. I've been talking with don for a few months and I'm still amazed at how informative, particular, and precise he is. Don't get through with his too quickly he still has a few more surprises up his sleeve on my project!

Re: Killers 5.3L install
What brand headers? Look like the don't hang low @ all (they look to be higher than the pan @ their lowest point).

Re: Killers 5.3L install
The a/c is still up for discussion. Probably go with a fly by wire unit. Unsure about the compressor unless 68 ss has came up with a plan!
