I have both and took the magnaflows off they were quiet untill you put your foot in it they are stainless wich is nice but I like the flows better.... The magna flows are outside collecting spiders now..

I have heard some vehicles that must barely be able to move under their own power.

I'd check to see which has the largest CFM capacity/least amount of back pressure. The less restrictive one will improve mileage/performance a little. Also, there's a neat article about exhaust "scavenging" that illustrates the importance of getting the back pressure aspect right. Once I find the link, I'll post it.

Both my 60 C10 and 70 Elky have cammed 454s, headers and Flowmasters. I love the way the truck sounds and don't care for the way the Elky sounds. Other differences are the Elky has an H-pipe installed just aft of the tranny and sits closer to the ground, creating unwanted resonance in the underbody around 2000-2200 RPMs where it runs most often. The C-10 has 4" chambers out the back.

Unfortunately, I don't have specs on either setup since I bought the vehicles with the exhaust as is.

I have also heard if it dont run chrome it. However it does run but nowhere near what I would like for it to. And it does have crhome on the engine,So I guess its just a saying.

Had FM's forever and still like them. But I'm totally diggin' my Dynomax Ultra Flows and noticed power over the flowmasters.

I had Flowmaster 50s on my 96 GMC, have Magnaflows on my Dodge, and Flowmaster 40's on the 70. Of the three I like the Flowmaster 50's the best. 40's are a bit loud, especially in an uninsulated cab like the 70 has.

The Magnaflows sound good, but I think the Flow50's just had a bit more agressive sound. Both are mellow at idle, and get very agressive on throttle., but don't resonate you to death o n long drives (like my 8-10 hour staright cruises).
The 40's were on my parts truck and I just reused them on the 70, but I'll probably swap them out later on.

Magnaflow is made by Edelbrock right?? I think it's the exact same muffler if I'm not mistaken.

since you guys gave good advice on mufflers..................now what is your preference on duals coming out the back or out each side behind the rear tires? I have short bed with stock chrome bumper.

Thought I would offer my 2 cents. If you read this post from start to finish it is easy to see that it is more than which muffler is used which determines the sound. The sound you end up with depends on air flow which is impacted by the modifications to your engine, intake, exhaust type (single, duals) pipe size used, location of mufflers, muffler tip used and more. For instance I use a K&N air filter, have a performance cam, a RPM Performer intake, run dual exhaust all the way to the rear bumper, use 3" pipes from Hooker headers to the mufflers, have dual 40 series Flowmasters located right in front of the rear axle which again goes to 3" pipe and then into 5" Silvertone stainless 18" long exhaust tips. All of the piping was mandrel bent for a smoother flow. They don't call it an exhaust system for nothin.
