Re: Junk-Yard Shopping list
How about Dodge Dakota weather stripping for the doors? Better than the glue on GM stuff as it has a steel crimpers inside.

- Chrome Metal Vent Balls
YES! Thanks for confirming what I thought. Found a 66 Le Sabre 4 door and thought they looked the same. I need to go down and grab them this week. Also, I grabbed the cadillac horns out of a 72. Much more bad ass sounding than the stock single truck horn. What about seat belts? |

- '73 through '78 truck and van variable ratio steering boxes
- someone on here mentioned that 8-lug 70's and 80's ford steel rims work on our c20's and c30s - grab any good bulkhead wiring connector assembly you come across. They repop them, but only sell them with complete wiring harnesses. You can't buy them yourself if you want to make your own wiring harnesses |

Re: Junk-Yard Shopping list
Hey this old thread's still alive! I'll be sure to update the list.
btw: what's the advantage of the 73-78 variable ratio steering boxes? Is it as self-explanatory as it sounds? I'd love to quicken up the steering on my truck--if it does actually do that.

Re: Junk-Yard Shopping list
Great post! I'd like to see more contributors. I hope I can contribute someday. Although I love hanging out in junk yards, I just have not swapped many parts. Thanks for the tips so far.

Re: Junk-Yard Shopping list
Yeah, let's try to keep this one going. One thing: anybody (ahem mods) know why I can't edit my original post? Has it been too long since the original posting?
I'd like to keep the initial post fresh so we don't have to always weed through all the other posts if you want to just print and take the list to the 'yard.

Here ya go: (had to google it myself...)
http://www.cdxetextbook.com/steersus...ablesteer.html This drawing is for R&P steering, but I'm assuming the concept is the same...

Anything related to manual steering. Boxes and single groove pulleys mostly.

Re: Junk-Yard Shopping list
I'm going to the yard tomorrow. I need an HEI distributor. Going to keep my eyes open for other goodies.

Re: Junk-Yard Shopping list
If you make a pickup bed trailer out of a 67-72, the 73-78 El Dorado rear straight axles work great. Just make sure you grab the wheels to go with them. I get them for $25 at my local yard.

Re : Junk-Yard Shopping list
? what's " TTT " ? .
I'm piqued about the dually swaybar thing as my '69 C/10 doesn't have and sorely needs one.... I've been a Junkyard Junkie since the 1960's...... Birthdays , New year's , I owned a small VW Junkyard in the 1970's and loved it .

Re: Re : THANX !
When you update a thread it moves it to the top of the list. It keeps attention on it,

Re : Thanx Again
O-Kay , now I understand ~ being an old Geezer , I'm barely computer literate .
This thread is terrific ~ I'm going to look for the Dakota door weatherstrips because the GM floppy ones , suck . Also the S-10 for some window tracking , SWMBO gripes about my rattly windows , I'm near deaf so they don't much bother me .
