I don't believe mine is fiberglass. I'm fairly sure it's sheet metal all the way down, but I'll run a magnet along it to see.

Well I guess that ad answers my question It's pretty cool to know that these trucks were made in Oklahoma too! I like that supershortbed one in the ad, kinda reminds me of those sawed off Nissans that they are selling today lmao!!! Kinda glad I started this thread now, I never knew there were so many variations of our trucks out there!

BLAZERMAN... could you email me a copy of the full scanned version. I think it's cool you have and ad! I need to see if my mom has some original pics of our truck in 68. I know there's a couple of pics around somewhere. My truck was converted in Michigan. Did all of your crew cab trucks come with the cardboard like headliner like my truck? I also noticed that the window handles in the front are red (since my truck is red on red), while the ones in the back are black. The door panel trim strip in the front is chromed, while the ones in the back are not chromed at all, in fact it appears that the conversion company made their own trim strip. I know my parents were disappointed when they picked up the truck since the were under the impression they were getting a "custom" truck... and a cardboard headliner is not very custom!

Who ever has the ad...PLEASE scan me a copy!!! That ad is GREAT!!!!! My truck was done in Michigan...The rear seat in mine was a regular seat, while the front was a 'burb...I also have the goofy cardboard headliner....one neat piece of trivia, mine has 3 "72" doors !!!! The other one ( a rear one) does not have the extra screw in the vent window...And it is the original door for the truck.....all of them are....Mine also had the original owners manual and the protect-o-plate.....These things are VERY cool !!!!

Crew70, that ad came out of the 1970 silver book, I am going to try and post the Alton Co. ad but by the time I crunch these with spinwave alot of the quality is lost.
Lyon, I will send it to you, if you can send me your email address, if you find those original photos be sure and post them, I'm sure we would all like to see them. joan72cst@magiccablepc.com

No way dude. It is a 3/4 ton. I am going to change it over to 1/2 ton. Take the dual gastanks out. It has 3 of them. Put a 69-70 frontend on it. With a cowl hood.
And i am taking out the 4 speed and installing an automatic. Oh yea, that aint my big dog. I have 2 St. Bernards also. heheh

Re: ever seen a crew cab railroad 68?
Sorry to bring up such an old thread, has anyone see this one before? I just bought it and some history would be great. It is supposedly a GM prototype.

Re: ever seen a crew cab railroad 68?
I really like that truck hart_rod, I like that they lined up the doors together, straighened the front door edge. Well done for back in the day. That will get A LOT of attention at shows. Sorry no info

Re: ever seen a crew cab railroad 68?
Holy quantum leap,Batman!!It`s cool to see this old thread.Ones like this need to get another round from time to time.I hate to tell you Rob,but that looks like the truck my drunken old uncle Bernie built out there in Arizona. He loved his two trucks, but was having alot of women trouble(as in,a few too many)and alot of them were looking for him(and alot of husbands).Well,he only needed to pass through town when going to work and didn`t want to move or get rid of either truck. So,he built this one and wore an Amish disguise through town every morning and evening so no one would notice.
True story,I swear.Huh?You don`t believe me,but you bought that other story??J/K,that would be awesome if it could pan-out.Surely someone from GM,past or present, would recall such a unique project on such a "break-through" model.
