Re: Crew cab owners

I have had a '88 1ton 4wd BBC 4speed w/ 4.10's and a GV od unit for a while and recently aquired an 89 2wd BBC power everything with some sort of aftermarket vanner style woodgrain and overhead console. It has a neat elec. roll down back window that's pretty cool.

Josh
ps thought i'd add pics.
This is the only good one I can find of 4x4 gave shell away tho:

and 2 of the new addition, brush guard and steps gone ASAP:

pics of the 89 came off my cell. new hi-res should be soon.

Re: Crew cab owners

If you bought that truck with the Gear Vendors OD in it already, that's a really lucky find. To buy one outright is ridiculously expensive.

I paid $3500 in 2001 the GV had just been installed along wiith new motor and 3rd members in both axles about a month prior. PO was a very close family friend who needed it gone to make room for his new KW water truck and at the time his missus wouldn't allow anything in the driveway and the garage was full. Something had to go and I got the truck.

Did you keep the 1 ton frame and shorten it? Or did you cut it off and use a 1/2t rear section? I would love to shorten my Crew, but I want to "Z" my frame. Do you have any pics of the underside? Thanks
-Lance

BTW your truck is AWESOME!

Now that is a sweet deal. I bet it makes that 4 speed really fun to drive, being able to split gears.

I really only use 4hi on the highway and very rarely use 3 hi on faster in town roads. L and 2 are too low to really power the gear venders unit.

Re: Crew cab owners

Here's my 77 GMC Crewcab. bought it a couple of years ago. bed was rusted out pretty bad had it rhino lined. Has a 454 2wd lifted a little. Interior was in excellent condition just needs a little exterior bodywork but she is a beauty.

I believe it was 19U. The paint was very transparent when reduced. We went with a black base and 5 coats of the blue to get good coverage. Didn't know it would take that much work or paint which did add to the cost.
