What's the story with those other beauties? If you did the work on those, there's no doubt in my mind that this truck will be every bit as nice! Keep it up and keep us posted.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
blue 72, I bought the chevelle just about like it sits i've done agood many upgrades on it ,with plans to tear front end off eventually and redo under the hood this is where the car is lacking its driver quality (I absoloutly love this car and would only sell it if I was starving) oh and it has a 454 in it ......... the truck looked good when I bought it but not as good as it does now tore front end off body matched under hood changed from smoking oil drinking 305 to 350 .....bed had roll on bedliner in it had to strip it and paint (what a job that was ) I bought this truck for half what the previous owner had in it and it only had 1000 miles on rebuild he had it so low in front A-arms were bottuming out .............wow thats a lot of imformation

Definitely a good buy. That other cab was gonna be a nightmare to work with. Looking forward to the progress.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
bought another donor truck this week from a board member greygoose ,I bought it basically just for the bedsides ,don't really need them yet but the truck was cheap enough and the sides are far better than what I had to work with ..... the first pic is current condition of last donor truck.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
so its been a long time since I've been able to work on my project, I painted the chassie last year and its been sitting outside since, so I'm going to have to go over it again. I decided to start working on the cab since it was going to be cheaper to fix it than to build my chassie right now since I got laid off a couple a weeks ago.
I thought I had a pretty good cab with minimal rust issues but the deeper I got the more bad repair work I uncovered, someone just packed the rot with bondo and fiberglass and painted over it. So basically it has all the usual rust as pics show.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
ok so obviously this is going to be one of those 10 year builds at the rate I'm progressing but I have spent a good bit of time working on it the last couple weeks. I've been working on the cab rust repair and its went pretty well other than the cab corners they were a bear to get right. I still have to fit the outer rockers and replace cab supports, I put the door back on the drivers side this morning and the fit of the rocker isn't bad with a little minor tweeking it should fit pretty well.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
I've been working on this cab for 6 weeks now, that's at least three times longer than I thought it would take . I'm trying to get the bottum of the cab undercoated now,I sandblasted it and put etching primer and spray bombed it black .I'm going to use 3M body shultz to under coat it in the morning. Next I'm going to sand and prime the roof and then sandblast the firewall and get it in primer. I hope to have this thing done in the next couple weeks.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
scuffed the cab floor and undercoated it with 3M body shutz yesterday ,it turned out really nice . today I sanded the roof back to bare metal and put it in epoxy primer then started the body work on the roof and rockers.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
finished up the body work on the roof and turned the cab back upright and started sanding the paint off the back of the cab, I'm only doing the top half since the bottum is in good shape, going to have to blast the rear window channel also. this truck had been painted once and the body work was poor ,someone had sanded the roof and put primer on it ,so it was not in the best shape but I think it is right now.
the last two pics show the front lip of the hood, I thought I had a good hood till I started sanding on it, turns out its scrap metal. someone packed the rust with bondo.

Re: Heres My Next Project 68 C10,what A Poc
started working on the drivers door yesterday,I buzzed all the paint off the lower outside of the door and it looked good , unfortunantly the inside wasn't as nice. So I decided to cut the bottum of the inner panel off. I then blasted the piece I cut off and repaired all the rust holes. I also cleaned up the inside of the door best I could and coated it with rust encapsulator, I'm going to spray bomb it with krylon rust tough also before I close it up.

thanks jesse , the cab has been a lot of work and time and there's still a lot of work to do on it, but it's closer to being done.
