Re: Console pics for Chevy454
Thanks for the info PT. What's the trick to bending the tabs on the trim molding on the top? Mine isn't on so good at the moment...
Kevinm, keep watching the classifieds adds. They pop up on a semi-regular basis and range from about 80-200 bucks depending on the condition and completeness. You can get a re-pop from the catalogs too for around 150.

Re: Console pics for Chevy454
TubbedII if you are trying to get yours to lay down better take it apart until you have the middle section in hand and flip it over, use one hand to press it up snug and take a pair of needle nose pliers and twist the tab. Be careful not to twist it to much and break it off.

Re: Console pics for Chevy454
"TWIST"!!! That's the secret!!! I was just bending them and it wasn't doing anything...I have to pull it apart to mount some gauges in it so that'll be the perfect time.
Thanks a ton PT!

Re: Console pics for Chevy454
The cup holders are more common and a little cheaper to build because you do not have as much to buy for them. If you build the seat belt style and want a super nice or show cond. one then you are going to have to buy the ashtray bezel and a ashtray. Most of the original ones if not all of them are rusted. I would not pay 10 bucks for the repop consoles. I have seen a few in person and they are junk IMO.
Thanks PT
