Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
Well, I made up the -6 lines, and for some reason, my fuel line disconnect tool set disappeared...probably when I had my 2 little ones in the shop this weekend, I told them they could play with the tools I had laying on the floor...
Anyway, dropped the tank again, and hooked up all my lines and wiring to see if I had any leaks...one small leak on output on sending unit, tightened down the hard tube adapter, it's not leaking, but I'm not sure I am happy with it. So I went online and bought another sending unit just in case...Don't want to worry about a fuel leak. Got the motor mounts back on the frame, got the tranny xmemer painted, turned out pretty good. We are having a fish fry tomorrow at the inlaws (40lb Wahoo & 20lb red snapper!) so I'll have time once I get off work to get something done, I'll just eat in the shop If I can maneuver my truck out of the way, move my old motor/tranny to the back, I think the new motor/tranny will be in place tomorrow night If not it WILL be in the truck this weekend. Fo 'Sho!

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
Some progress...but moving the tranny xmember does not work, about an inch or two off. Gonna have to figure something out.
But the motor is in.

Good progress. Good luck on your tranny xmember. (Can't simply move it back, eh?)

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
xmember got moved back to rear holes, any farther back and it will be on that part of the frame that has that weird "bow" in it...I guess where the cats from factory went...
so it won't bolt flat to frame any farther back.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
xmember fixed...
getting there... Had some time today, got the new coils on, and a new map sensor. Tightened down the xmember and threw some spray can on it, looks fine. Probably going to test and remount my finished tank, mount the regulator and run the -6 line to the front. A little down time right now waiting on harness, just finishing up the small stuff. My paw-in-law bought a 65 falcon in really good shape, been helping him with some trim clean up and gotta get the 289/t5 in that bad boy.. More to come.

So, you're saying that you had to move it back at least 7 inches.

ya. Don't know the exact figure but 7" would be close.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
I didn't realize that the Gen III drivetrain would push the xmember back that far. I've had luck using the jaws of a extra large Crescent wrench to straighten out (pry) bent metal. I wonder if something like that could be use to straighten out that part of the frame rail. I've been curious of the tool that Nate (Porterbuilt) made for this purpose.
BTW, your progress looks good.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
Got the harness back from speartech, set it in place. Ran wiring for fuel pump in back.
Got most of the front end back on. Still need to finish wiring in engine bay/pcm...Just time consuming. Was not "satisfied" with the fit of the an hose on sending unit going to regulator/filter. I put on some FI hose from sending unit to regulator/filter and put some of those rubber lined "starps" on them to keep them in place, they are only about 18" long from sending unit to regulator, I hope that works out, looks like it should. I think I'll start tomorrow with getting the pcm mounted, and try to straighten out spaghetti city as much as I can. Since the thorley headers are a no go on drivers side, I need to decide if I want to wait on them to get corrected, or find another alternative. But I need to decide, because, by next weekend, wiring will be finished, and she will be ready to crank. I'll get some more pics tomorrow.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
dont know what you are doing for a air intake system. i did not have a lot of room, after the factory 5.3 fan and the 350 fan shroud so i went with the cheap (199.00) from summit. i also cut a hole in the side of the intake box and ran a hose to hole in core support. i had to order a left battery box and move battery to left side to have room for the air box.
mike nutt will post some pics this afternoon in my crew cab build. maybe some of this will help. what are you doing for air compressor? i went with s&p relocation kit. it came in polished, and i was going with the factory look so i glass beaded and cleared compressor and all brackets.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
I thought about air intake last night...not sure what I am going to do yet...I'm still buttoning up fuel pump wiring/lines. Gonna start on pcm/engine bay wiring maybe this week.
I put some 01 z28 electric fans on last year, the fit perfect. No shroud, so I will have plenty of room. When I decide to put ac on, I'll probably do the same thing you did, go with the overpriced s&p highside kit. If you feel like finishing up my wiring for me, you know where I live! Tell Mike to hurry w/ the pics!

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
More progress but no pics.
The wiring under the hood is done, just have to connect battery cables when ready to start. I will change out the cluster to a 91 burb, that's on "the list". Made up an adapter to run the steam line 3/4 to 1/4 found a lower radiator hose, fits pretty good. Just have to get driveshaft done this week, I hope, move starter wire a little, it's hitting the fbody manifolds, no biggie. The new tranny dipstick should be here this week along with intake tube/fittings. I already contacted my local tuner, I'm shooting to have this thing running and back to my house by Saturday, then I will "pretty" up some wiring, and "hurry up and wait" on headers... Oh ya, I forgot, have to get tranny linkage working. Will get some more pics this week.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
Got the tranny yoke today, brought it and driveshaft down to get shortened, they said they would have it done tomorrow.
woohoo, just waiting on tranny dipstick, and might go with cable shift.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
What rear end gear are you going to run... ?? Also how tall is your tire ??
I have been watching this thread since the beginning !! Even though my build will be slightly different Its nice to see a step by step build just like it !!!! So do you have F body manifolds bolted up ??? Im thinking about going this route... But im using the A/c pump in stock location....This might play problems with the motor mounts ????? Cant wait to hear it run !! You gotta get some video hahaaaa

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
I'm going to run 3.73 tire is 295/45/20 (dunno how tall)
I have fbody manifolds bolted up right now, waiting on headers. They bolt up but they are tight...Have to grind a little off passenger side to clear frame. Just going to run it like that, enough to drive it to my house about 5 minutes away. If you use stock a/c you will have to "clearance" the frame a little, I am not sure how much, but there is no way around it. All I am waiting on is a stinking tranny dipstick, ordered it on 6/2 and it just shipped today, I'll never buy from that place again. There goes my plan for having it running on Saturday. Good news, I took my driveshaft to get done, brought new yoke, the guy called me the next day, and said he did not have to cut driveshaft. I measured what I needed it to be, 55.5" and to my surprise, that is exactly what it was. I had him put in new crossover ujoint behind tranny yoke and new "stock" ujoint at diff. end. I'll bolt it in the truck tomorrow, get the throttle cable finished, put the intake stuff on, and that's all it needs to run. I am going to have to wait on the rearend until the header situation is solved. My rear tires will thank me now, but hate me later

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
With the 80e you can run more gear in the back. But I think that is a good all around gear for sure.
Very nice install. You will love it. I love the 5.3 and wish I would have put the 6.ohh in it.
