You know I haven't checked to see what gear ratio is in my eaton. I'll have to go look today. I am planning to run the eaton for a few months until I can finish building my Dana 60. I have a turbo 350 trans with a high performance 337 small block chevy.

You are right, I'm planning to get longer ones. Procomp sent me those telling me that they are for a 12" lift. BS those are the same length that they send with their 6" lift kits. Thanks for the advise. Its on the to do list.

Re: Lifting my 72' K20

If you happen to have one of the rare 4:10 eaton rears I would get a 3rd meber from a eaton with 4:56 its would be alot cheaper then regearing a d60 and the eaton is a lot stronger rear. the d60 is the weeker of the 3/4 ton rear axles .

I really like the rims you chose, the finished lift looks great. I hope your leaning towards the D60 for the front axle, those are some big/heavy tires!

Re: Lifting my 72' K20

what about the driveshafts? Are you asking why they are missing? I dropped off the rear to be lengthened and the front is sitting in the garage until I get some more money to get it done.

I did take the original driveshaft to get it lengthened. I'm not sure what the original length of the driveshaft was, because I never measured it. The only info that Fresno Driveline Service wanted was the distance between the two yokes. But to answer your question the new distance from yoke to yoke was 63 1/4.

Also I picked up my new steering arm and took off my pass. knuckle tonight. I am going to take it over to my buddy's shop to have it machined and the arm stud holes drilled. I have pictures up soon of before and after.

Re: Lifting my 72' K20

Heres an update for ya'll

So I finally finished the crossover steering along with a hand full of other problems. As earl87gta had pointed out my front shackles won't long enough and was allowing the front leafs to sit on the frame. Believe me the ride almost hurt at times! So with a combination of the short shackles and a bent water pump pulley I kept breaking grade 8 bolts for my alt. bracket. I'll have to wait a few more days to see if that fixes that issue. Next is the rear shackles. I am going to install Offroad Design shackle flip, but I'm still researching that.

Here are the before and after pics of the shackle set up.

Crossover Steering Pics

The only change we made to the crossover was we used a YJ pitman arm instead of a Ford.

Here are some pics after I found a little mud yesterday. Remember I don't have my front driveshaft on yet.

Re: Lifting my 72' K20

Looks great! I hope you decided to keep the Eaton rear. A lot stronger then a 60 and the Eaton has class. Real easy to change gears also but you just have to find a used third member.

I can't find a locker or gears for it. I'm still going with the Dana 60

Some of them have a stock Detroit in them. They were available with 4.10's, 4.56's and 5.13's from the factory. Also, Randy's carries those gears in stock.

A 14B locker can be made to fit the Eaton with the 14B shafts. I agree with Earl that the Eaton is a way stronger axle. If not, a 14B is cheaper to build and stronger than a 60.

That drag link looks very steep. Can you run a steeper drop pitman arm and a lift block under your arm on your knuckle? It's got to be causing some bump steer. Most will say the drag link needs to be parallel with the ground or as close to it as you can. Granted, if you're going 60 front, run what you brung . What steering arm did you go with? It looks a bit short, as the drag link is angling back a bit?
