Re: The ole 350 budget build.....
Richard,
I am very curious how you are doing your under-dash MasterCylinder power booster setup. Bought mine from Scott's Hot Rods and just have not gotten to the point of installing and plumbing the remote fill lines yet. As it seems like that aspect of the braking system will present quite a challenge once I get to that point. Hope all is going well on your build. Keep it up!

I will get a better picture of my gauge bezels with outside light tomorrow , they are much sweeter than the picture. These are from Classic Industries.

Re: The ole 350 budget build.....
I'm still going... The first pic is of my son Justin who is rather green at body work but is helping out for some cash.
The second pic is shows what he will be grinding off with a wire wheel when he comes back ,uh both corners. The firewall is done accept for blocking ,the dash base is done for the over-lay and the cowl is ready for a little filler.

Re: The ole 350 budget build.....
Looks great so far.
I'm looking into building a cab dolley very similiar to yours. Could you take a close up picture of how your cab mounts to the dolley. How tall are the arms on the dolley that the cab mounts to. Thanks so much and keep up the great work. |

Re: The ole 350 budget build.....
Ok here's some pics of what little we have accomplished. First the building is done..
The firewall is completed with paint and fittings. Gas tank delete panels by Portabuilt. Sound deaden-er plastered everywhere by wife. Good girl!

Re: The ole 350 budget build.....
That looks amazing. The firewall is beautiful. I can't wait to see how the dash turns out.

Re: The ole 350 budget build.....
Nice work so far. Love the color.
Umm... not to nit pick but the angled ends of your bowties are going the wrong direction. They should be like this / / but you have them going \ \. Just one of those detail things. Keep up the good work.

What really bugs me is the mock drawing (last pic on page one) is right and is on my shop wall.

Re: The ole 350 budget build.....
A little more progress getting the cab put on using my lift. Then we got it over to the bidness side of my shop for the slow road of fitment of doors and such. The door tops are from my old doors , I'm really sorry I did not just fix my old doors , the repops suck.
The headers are from Clear Image and are sweeet and finally the seats from a 96 Yukon for more fitment.

Re: The ole 350 budget build.....
The headers look great! What are your thoughts on the fitment? Are these stainless and coated? What motor mounts are you using? Can you get some firewall clearance pictures? I'm using 6 cylinder mounts in the rear holes and have a very tight clearances. Do you think there will be any issues running a lokar shift linkage? Thanks,
Rob

Re: The ole 350 budget build.....
They fit good, they are coated stainless and I have sbc mounts. Do the 6 cld. mounts raise or lower the engine? If mine went back 2 5/8" on these mounts it would be fine ,valve covers would be tight to the firewall. Lokar linkage will also work.

Gentlemen I have a 61' with a 235 in it and I want to put in a 350 however a mechanic quoted me a ridiculous amount of $ to do the swap, crying "adaptations" will be a lot of work...is this true? Any advice would be greatly appreiciated....thanks

Re: The ole 350 budget build.....
I' ve got a little more done on this never ending project and I hope the pics show up! The brakes for the cab are done plumbing wise.
Well here is my edit... Thumbnails ? If you squint you can see how the stainless fittings are under the throttle cable, the middle pic is where the rear residual valve is. The pic on the left shows the reservoir lines and my new Ididit column.
