Re: dsigh's '87/ '73 Project

Alright kids, I think I'm taking her in for paint this weekend. I'm leaning towards an off-white/ eggshell color.

All holes have been professionally filled, no bondo on this thing. Door mirrors, stake pockets and gas filler has been shaved.

Check it.

From the title of the thread, I was going to put a '73 front clip on it, but I'm having second thoughts now. I'll probably just got with a billet grille.

That should answer it.

Nice progress on the truck.. I wish min would come along as fast as this one has. I'm just young and broke and have big dreams though so I have no choice but to be patient.

Yea, the '87 grille grew on me. It actually looks a little more "boxy" than the '73-80 too. I've decided to go with flat black. Even though I think this color is a little played out, it's very close to the color of the interior, firewall, etc.

I'll get more pics up when I get it back early next week.

Re: dsigh's '87/ '73 Project

Just finished wet sanding this thing tonight. I've fallen in love with a '72 Longbed, so I'm going to put this up for sale at the GoodGuys show in Pleasanton this weekend.

So, this is my vice. I go through cars pretty quickly. I love the 67-72 bodystyle, that's why I'm on this site! But with this project I wanted to change things up a little.

Re: dsigh's '87/ '73 Project

it's not even a shortbed!!! please keep this project going, you will always be able to find a 72 longbed at a good price, but then again you will always be able to find one of these at a good price.

You can't see how bad the truck sat from the original pictures. The driver's side of the bed looked like a tree fell on it, so the whole bed was replaced. Fender, hood, and door was in real bad shape, so all were replaced. If you read the thread, you can see all of the time and money involved in shaving and filling. This was professionally sprayed with etching primer and wet sanded down. This is ready for paint, or could be ran how it is.

I was looking for a retro look, it wasn't sold with the 20's.

Hey buddy, do the pictures you posted include the 5.5"/7" drop?

No worries, no offense taken. I didn't like the rough finish the paint was, so I wanted to complete as much as I could before selling it. I'm confident that 95% of the work is now complete. The whole truck now feels like glass.
