6's are cool.if you're going to build one you need to do the research.The 250 is different from the 216-235 engine family.The 292 is with the 250 but still has a few differences.I think you can also raise compression by swapping to the head from a 194 "6".
There are several manifolds available,I know the 216-235 family has choices of a 4 bbl.,2 1 bbl.,or 3 1 bbl. There are also some side draft Webber set-ups but I think they are quite pricey.Exhaust is also available in a few variations.There are split manifolds(not many people do this anymore),headers that are split and I have seen single headers(they may be custom and I haven't found a supplier).I haven't researched cams but would imagine them to be pricey since there is probably less demand for the 6 cyl ones than for a smallblock.

so, a stock bore 307 piston is the same as a stock bore of which engine? or does the engine need bored over to fit the 307 piston?

Those velocity stacks are it for me.
I always had an idea about the 4.3 block. It literly is a 350 with a shortend block, cam, crank and a few other goodies. Bolt it right up to a turbo 400. The reason the 4.3 was such a dog is just a matter of emissions. Ran fine but with imposed restrictions. Another reason I thought it would make a good set up is that it uses almost any other part of a small block. Heck put a gear drive in it.
I do enjoy the thought of some old school 250's and 292's though.

I got around 15 mpg with my 66 I6 250 on my 5 hr drive from central ill to wisconsin. In my 72 with the 350 i get about 12 mpg i think...and hells yea man, gotta love the inlines!!

that motor was in car craft magazine. I remember reading about it, it was 320ci and made 500 hp.

That's where I first saw it, but I couldn't find any pictures of it on their site, so I did a search for the guy's name and found it in the other mag.

I get 12 MPG on an aggressively-rebuilt 292. Original block. First rebuild. 030 overbore, Badger pistons, Crane cam [260H], 1.84 intake valves [ 307 V8-type], Rhoads lifters, Melling oil pump, Offy intake, Clifford headers, Edselbrock 1404/ 500 CFM 4Bbl carb, crossover exhaust, turbo mufflers. Centerforce II clutch thru SM465 to 12-bolt Corp w/ Eaton posi at 3.73:1. Dunlop 235/85/R16LTs on 16x 6 white spokes. Body type is 1/2 ton [C/10] shortbed stepside.

I don't think that you would ever get a 305 V-6 to be a hot rod, but I'm sure you could pep it up a lil

They just don't make any after market parts for em & they are just big heavy motors

I think they have something like 128 hp & 280 tq
