Re: rip boyd coddington
Sad to see such an icon go. He was still quite young.
I know he was somewhat the center of controversy for quite a while, but he did produce some nice looking rides. I could have done without the TV Show as I don't think it portrayed him or his work in the best way.

Re: rip boyd coddington
His style was either a love it or hate it type of thing ... but there is no denying the fact the guy was a pioneer in the custom car building industry.
I was lucky enough to meet the man in Louisville, KY at a NSRA Nationals and he seemed to be a genuinely nice guy. Prayers and well wishes go out to his family. Last edited by Shane; 02-29-2008 at 12:57 AM. |

Re: Boyd Coddington, Dead. RIP
Wow, what a great time to show your true colors fine69! The guy is dead, do you really need to say he is an a hole?! Maybe you should keep that one to yourself. I met him and he talked to me like he'd known me for years. I don't have $$$ falling out of my pockets nor did I look snooty, check out the avatar, I was grungy and covered in 67 Chevy truck greese, yet he sat a talked to me for a couple of hours. Sad to see him go, the rodding world has lost a lot of great people in the last year or so.

He made some awesome cars and contributed greatly to the automotive customization world. RIP Boyd.
An example of a nice touch the wheels made for an already cool looking truck. Last edited by Zumo; 02-29-2008 at 03:19 AM. |

Re: Boyd Coddington, Dead. RIP
I wish I could have met him. He didnt seem to be the happiest person on tv. But I would have like to have met him. Sorry to see him go. He made a difference in the hot rodding community just like George Barris did.

Re: Boyd Coddington, Dead. RIP
lets keep the hate to a minimum. Many people disliked him, and thats fine.. we are above having pissing matches within a discussion about someones passing though

Re: rip boyd coddington (merged )
He was truly talented, I also didn't like the "drama" on the show, but loved the work they did. wonder how much was staged? Its sad someone gone at ,in my opinion, a early age..

Re: rip boyd coddington (merged )
We might still be rolling 15" centerline auto drags, cragar s/s's, and chrome wagon wheels if it weren't for Boyd's dominance (and influence) of the custom wheel market in the late 80's and early 90's. (in Jerry Seinfeld's voice: Not that there's anything wrong with that )
RIP
