Re: another barn find

I knew it didn't run because he said it had steam comming of the side of the engine. He said he was told it was a soft plug. But I questioned why he had the extra engine. The real story was told when I winched it onto the trailer and it was leaking a oil and water mix onto the trailer. I could of backed out, but what the heck, I'll fix it.

i'd give 1500 for a clean short step... the performance parts and spare motor are just a bonus or two.

TBF 1970 350 convfwd cab, mil 255 C-10,20,30
TBF 1979 350 convcab, alt, fed L LS9 165 K-10,15,20

I would say it's the 79 version because it's blue. coulda been painted, though. i would say helluva a deal for 1500. have fun, and just to tease, here's what my brother's 70 short step looked like after where we pulled it out of the quanset we bought it at and what it looks like today.

Re: another barn find

If it looks as good in person as in pics, you got a great deal! Around here you can pick up a running 350 awfully cheap so don't sweat that. Can't wait to see it cleaned up, get more pics posted!

Re: another barn find

i agree you way better off to just pull the motor out, and pick it apart to see what went wrong. then just puit the best parts out of the two into one motor, and stuff it back in.

im from canada, around here, you may as well of stole that!

The casting number for a 1970 engine will be 3970010. Additionally, the dipstick will be on the passengers side on a 1979 small block.

Re: another barn find

Been out picking up more stuff today. Traded my snowmobile trailer off for this. I dont own a snow mobile anyway. As for rust in the 70-- All I found was a thin spot on the passenger side floor. I can patch that.
