the air was on. I found out today the tip on the gun is worn, and plus the glass bead media was too fine to do the job quickly anyways.

you can remove the plastic inserts on the back of the caps. run a 1/4x20 tap in the holes and they line rigth up with the factory holes in the wheels.
I am waiting to see what you come up with for a lug nut idea. |

That was what i was thinking... I never saw any caps back there, but I was thinking of drilling holes and then doing as you say.
As for lug nuts, I'd end up putting chrome ones (with a lock) on there. That's the plan anyways. |

Grab a mothers power ball and get some of this kick ass cleaner and polish from mudder.... these things will make the junk yard trim rings look stunning!
Mudder... you were right, this stuff is the SHIZNIT! instant BLING!!! 245/60 on the left, 275/60 on the right. Now remember... everything that is not rubber... came from the junk yard. The rims and rings were off an 84 1/2 ton p/u. I did get a shot of all 4, but the photo was so blurry, even I refused to use it. Now... for the $$ Rims I think i paid $40 for the cheesey rallys with the chrome chipping off, and traded even up for the truck rallys. tires, just a tick under 400 bills mount/ballance/valve stem/labor $50 with shop discount paints 30 bucks my labor... right at about 14 hrs all in all. A *good* rate from a shop would be 50-ish an hr around here... so that would be 700 bucks. I feel kinda ripped off here... 1220 bucks for rally wheels. Hmmmm.... I kinda ripped myself off though, the check i wrote myself for $700 was a bad check, so I guess I only have $520 into them. That still doesn't sound low buck to me... esp for a rim job! Looking good. And nice job on putting the letters in. I prefer my stuff that way. But I do like some of the stock style lettering on the old muscle cars.

They aren't on the burb yet... the burb still has big 'ole honkin 8 lug wheels on it.
As for the salt... yesterday was the first time the burb has hit the streets since december IIRC... when ever it was my converter broke on the longhorn, so salt isn't too much of an issue since it is just sitting... but, that is WHY she is sitting there guarding the curb. However, Alvin... when i pick you up to take you to port columbus... we'll be burbin our way there... I'll have my son for the weekend, and the longhorn has buckets. The burb gives a nicer ride anyways, not to mention you can actually hear each other speak in it. But... they are in the BACK of the burb for the moment. As for the letters... I've always been more of an old school 60's/70's hot rodder type, but that's not the route this one is going. It was hard, I even messed up at first as i was unloading it all at NTB for the mount and ballance. Automaticly said letters out, then realized the mistake a moment later. chrislehr... in these parts, 5 lug 8 inch rallys are a b!tch to locate, and the 6 lug ones are even worse. I about crapped myself when i saw he found a complete set. |
