Re: brand new HEI chevy distributor $42.95???

The coolest thing in his ebay store he sells small cap HEI dizzys. They look like the stock points type, but are HEI. You have to use an external coil with them, but that's cool. He's also got one made specifically to hook up to a MSD 6A or 6AL. And the prices are right. Sweet...

Re: brand new HEI chevy distributor $42.95???

Will that tall cap fit in my 72 with 402? I converted to HEI with a 78 SBC GM dizzy, and I think this cap is taller than what I used.

Re: brand new HEI chevy distributor $42.95???

I got a $46 "HEI" type distr. from Skip White and it wouldn't spark AT ALL. Wasted a lot of time with that thing, but when I called him about it with the ohm readings etc.he sent me another unit Next Day. Now that's how to do business. Second one has been perfect.

Re: brand new HEI chevy distributor $42.95???

I have the ProComp 9000 - got it from Ebay new in the box.

Worked great for about a month, then no spark.

Replaced the ignition module with the Niehoff DR400CS from Kragen and it fired back up. I also added a ground wire from the corner of the coil that goes to the firewall. Read about that on a racing car website. Not sure if that will prevent modules going out, but we will see.

As a side note, the coil I bought for troubleshooting was a Niehoff DR184CS - I am glad the ProComp one worked, since the Niehoff had real thin wires going to the terminals. At least compared to the ProComp.

We will see how long the 19.99 module lasts. The ProComp has Australia written on the top, and the Niehoff said 'Hecho in Taiwan'.

Re: brand new HEI chevy distributor $42.95???

I bought a few of those dizzys. I think they are pretty good. I had one that had a random no start problem (hot or cold) But I called him up and he had one at my house fedex the next day. Threw it on and it worked fine. i would definately buy from him again.
