Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
WOW! that had to hurt! Fortunatly, I've never broken my collar bone, knock on wood, (knocking on the side of my head) but UNfortunatly, I have broken quite a few other bones including two compounds. On certain days I feel like I'm 90 and need a walker...

Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
Here are some pictures from what i got done yesterday.
Painted the visors. got the fenders bondod up and primered going to get the other one today and no i didnt use that much just enough to cover up the little holes in the welds. got the other tailgate sanded up and almost ready to be primered but i dont have any pictures of that right now. I will post some pictures later on tonight because im going to go work on my truck right now (My bad luck) I accidentaly kicked the valve them and broke it im guessing it was dry rotted Before After They look really glossy in the pics but its just because it was dark |

My truck would die too when I shifted into any gear before it was warmed up. I wondered about it too, I thought it might be related to the trans pulling vacuum from the modulator, lowering the idle speed to where it dies upon start up. I'm not sure.

Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
Here's what we got done on Sunday.
Here is my dad cutting out the cab corner. Here is the rust on the rocker. We got that cut out and ready to put the new rocker on. Pulling the dents out the side of the cab. Got the bed off and we started on fixing the bedside. It might be salvageable. Before grinding the welds |

Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
Pulled out most of the dent it still needs some work but its not as noticeable.
Found some through rust on the passenger side. And here is what we got done today. Don't have any pics yet though. stripped out the interior Got the rocker cut out Found a bunch of money under the carpet. The closet year quarter to my truck was 1973, but im not sure if its been there since then. |

Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
Hey man, I just started following your build. Great progress!!! I cant wait to see the finished product. Any more plans for it besides body paint and interior?
I'll remember to keep checking this one. We gotta keep these older guys in check . I sure wish my dad was out there helping me that much. Its awsome when hobbies run in the family blood.

Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
hey thanks 72blu. I already got it running good so right now im not going to be doing any motor work but after i get the paint and body stuff done i'll prob start doing some motor work. And I am glad my dad helps me to, even though how busy he is he still manages to get out there and help me. He is busy enough because he is a fire fighter that has 24 hour shifts and he works on pools on his off days

Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
We had to cut off the cab corner and rocker a couple weeks ago because it didnt line up. But we got them back on today and they are lined up pretty good, I post pics later.
I got a sandblaster so I'll be starting on that soon. Now were starting to put things back together instead of taking them apart. And I also decided on just buying a new bed panel instead. I post more updates later I have to get back over to the shop. |
