Re: What am I doing wrong?- brake line
Thanks for encouragement guys!. I had the truck out last Friday for the first time in 6 months and put about 50 miles on it Like always, it ran like a champ! I'm just anxious to start the cruising season. I'm in a much better frame of mind today than I was last night
Bill- that's what I'm thinking but isn't the flare (by design) supposed to seat itself as the threads are drawn up?. Even if it was not flush, as you begin to tighten it straightens itself out I thought. I know this is a simple fix, I'm not stressing anymore. I'll just take it off and have another look at the threads I'm trying to get the brakes ironed out before the new heads go on next month

Seriously, yes, it should - but it sometimes doesn't. I always seat the flare and hold light pressure against it, then tighten down the tube nut. |

Re: What am I doing wrong?- brake line
I'll make sure to seat the flare first and then tighten. Thanks again!

Re: What am I doing wrong?- brake line
The rubber line is screwed into the block just like the hard lines are. It seats the same way. WES

Re: What am I doing wrong?- brake line
The local advance has those tees, I just bought some a couple weeks ago. They were like 4.00, 5.00 maybe

Re: What am I doing wrong?- brake line
UPDATE- 70GMCer stopped by today and noticed the second line I bought had a hairline split at the flare. He found it with his fingernail. I never saw it. The line is made with a seam unlike the first line we installed which was seamless. Luckily, I saved the first line and reinstalled it making sure it was seated properly!. So far, so good Thanks again Steve for stopping by today!. I knew it would be something simple
