Man! Seeing this makes me want to ! At least no one was hurt and you didn't end up in jail. Gotta agree with the other guys, save what you can and rebuild. That paint concept is too good not to use it again. Good luck with all of the issues to follow.

I did even want to look at this thread when I read the title.
I am so sorry, I agree, this truck needs to be re-done.
Good luck

OH MAN! Glad everyone is ok but yes along with some of the others i would have come ungluuuuuuddd!! Fix that truck! Dont take no less for what time and money you had going in that truck, because i had a similar thing happen to me in highschool where someone side swiped my 62 and they wanted to give me $500, (and we all know that you cant buy inner fenders and a hood for that) It took some fighting but it did work out and my truck did get fixed. So good luck!!! keep us posted

Re: You are not going to freaking believe this.

Thanks a bunch, guys. I've gone to the shop (it's only 6 miles from home) twice now today to look at the truck. One to kinda look it over and relive it all, and the second was to pick up my bike- which I'd been driving while the truck was in paint- since I do need to get to work on Monday.
You know the different phases of grief? I think first is Denial, where I got out of the truck yelling "you've got to be kidding me!", and then I think is anger- which followed immediately after denial with "I'm gonna beat the crap out of you!", but now throughout the day I've finally come to a place where it's all a bit funny. And not like Ha ha funny, but more like "that is NUTS". That truck is so whacked. The frame is bent all the way under the cab. It looks like the whole truck is bowed to the right. I keep noticing different things every time I see it; the last time being that the right inner fender is SPREAD a good 6 inches to the right of the frame, showing the upper a arm, where the left inner fender is OVERLAPPING the frame by a couple inches. I would have never thought a big ladder frame and thick steel body would be bent so easily.
Well, I have two plans. One is that the insurance company, after a thorough brow-beating, agrees to get the truck fixed. I will then buy another donor truck and swap over whatever is worth swapping. This may just be the doors, left fender, and maybe the whole bed. But that seems like I should just build a whole other truck all together. This comes to plan B. The insurance company still gets a brow-beating, but instead gives me the $7200 worth of receipts plus whatever labor cost I can get out of them, takes my totalled truck to the junkyard, and I go and buy a 67-72 4 speed Nova. I've been back and forth several times today. I'm just going to have to wait until Monday when I can get the ball rolling and make a bunch of phone calls.

I'm just glad were slow at work so that I can apply my efforts elsewhere.

But seriously, thank you guys for the good words!

Re: You are not going to freaking believe this.

I'm in the middle of my restoration and I've already discussed insurance with my agent. As I get closer, I've got a quote for an agreed upon value ($18,000), but the agent suggested I get an appraisal just in case I have an accident like this and to save a big headache with a claims adjuster. I thought about chancing it with a classic car insurer, but figured I'd be pushing it if someone steals or hits the truck in the parking lot at work.

Re: You are not going to freaking believe this.

Oh man that sucks! I hate to see stuff like that happen!!! And it was a dang Toyota on top of all of it!

I trashed my beloved Chevy II in a wreck and it about killed me. I was following a truck, and it turned off. When it turned off, there was a stalled S-10 truck in the road with no brakelights or hazards flashing. There was no way I could get stopped in time.

Once again, I'm sorry about the truck.

X3.....seeing those pics just makes me sick! If this happend to me I'd most likely be in jail....props to you for restraining yourself. Glad no one got hurt too.....hopefully something doesn't show up later. Best of luck with this situation and I hope you get all that you deserve for your truck and your efforts.

Re: You are not going to freaking believe this.

Glad to hear your ok and sorry about the truck. I have had people pull out in front of me in my 65 because they just don't look anymore everyone is in a hurry to get no where and this is the grim truth of what happens to some people's hard labor and money. My condolences...

Dude. I loved that truck. Sorry about the carnage. glad it was only the truck and not you (or the other driver...)

My wife just walked over to the computer when I yelled "Holy He11" when I scrolled down to that 3rd pic.

Sorry about the truck. I am glad you and the other people are ok. I would salvage something to put on the next truck. It was really nice.
