I have the HD model with a deep sump for towing. I don't know what the size difference is with the regular oil pan. We couldn't lower the engine in with the tranny, the GV would not fit over the tranny crossmember with an angle. Once we seperated the motor and tranny , the tranny and GV went in without a problem. Went with a one piece drive shaft, 56 1/2 inches ( with the 14 bolt rear) the T400 mounted on the last bolt holes in the frame for the tranny crossmember and mounted the motor mounts accordingly. I was suprised on how easily the Caddy motor went in, fits very well. on the stand the caddy motor looks ugly with the dizzy and the a/c comp. on the front, but in the truck it looks great. like it belongs there. following pics shows the clearance for the GV 2nd pic shows two fingers clearance

tranny hump, low versus high myth.
4th picture in the above post/repy shows the clearance of the T400 and a LOW hump. my guess is aprox. 1 1/2 ". Lots of clearance. I'm waiting for a warm day to see how hot it gets. with the caddy running between 200* and 210* (normal for the caddy) it might get to warm for my taste and then I'll put in the high hump.

funny you should say that, I'm having one of my co-workers have his uncle make me a V8 - 500 out of billet for the fenders.
I've already started planning for some t-shirts to screen; ie: "size does matter" "no replacement for displacement" "It's big- it's bad- and powered by Cad" etc...etc.. I was thinking of following CG's lead. I need a name for the Burb, so I'm offering a years subscription for this board for help in a name. when it's completed it will have the caddy 500, caddy T400 and the 3 rows of seating (and console) from a '07 Escalade. "Suville" is taken by another member. other possible names to come my way have been,....Burbalade, Burbillac, Subllac, any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated.

Just had to say the cowgirls miss you!! well maybe they miss your tips... I discovered why your 350/350 was bleeding all over.. the crank bolts were loose and one had backed out so far it was pushing on the torq converter causing it to go off center and making the seal non functional.. plus not only one bolt was missing off the torq converter to flex plate.. the flex plate was also cracked.. |

Hey Andy, I'll have a 425 available within a month, all it will need is the pulleys and a carb, it has the rear sump and rwd exhaust manifolds, (albeit a small crack in one) runs smooth as silk.

finally back on the site, been really busy. Subdvil is great, up here we only have 6 digits on our plates, I'd have to use "Subdvl".

Damn I never saw any "pasties" only underwear. That's too bad, ask Livrat, it was far nicer having a smiling girl (working for tips) with pleasent "conversation" than an old miserable battle axe ... or worse yet..... a cowBoy. those girls can make a $200 - $300 a day in tips, 7 hour shift. who do you think is the smart one is!

I've installed the front seats now. The seats are from a '07 escalade. All that was needed to to was drill 4 holes each, no shimming needed as they sit perfectly on the floor pan perches. I hot wired them temporarily to see how for forward/back they would go. These seats are perfect for the 'Burb, they raise you up a little and are nice and firm.

I'm leaving the stock seat belts in because I haven't found replacements for the new seats yet. Seats are bolted down with large washers underneath. The nuts and washers will be welded to the pan later.

I'm working on what to do with the middle row today. It is really tight for room, definitly won't be able to use the 'power fold up seat' option. I may use the 3rd row seats only. After the seats are in, I'm hoping to get this complete and installed next week. Hey Mark, are you ready for another visit?
