I might give that a try, the best paint I have found to use is RustOleum.

Updated VIN info: The sticker that ksjh1316 told me about does indeed still exist on the drivers door and it matches the SPID on the glove box. Thats the 1st match I've had, ha. This helps confirm that the cab is at least probably from a 3500.
