that bracket that is rivited on, is what the overload hits when it squats down. the 78 1 ton has that system.. now, why does my Gwhatever heavy rear leaf option have a 1/2 inch thick leaf on the bottem as the overload? (i know thats what it is, the 89 and the 74 have the same)

Yup...little josh is right...kinda like a suspension lock out.
Cool!

Never seen that on a stock set up before.

That was my point. The over load spring dosent hit the main spring pack, it hits those bumpers ...

I aint seen the old longhorn in a while, but that spring set-up stuck in my head. It would take alot of weight to get it down there. Its funny...I cant remember yesteday , or last week. Mabey all the beer is takin its toll. ..But...I remember truck springs.??? I think my wife is right, I DO have a problem...

believe me, you CAN hit those bumpers, even on a 8 leaf heavy duty spring 1 ton. we've hit them alot on the 78 1 ton, just load about 13 calves or 3 cows or 100 concrete blocks on there, you should be on em

nu2-72-- im wondering if thats why mine is different? (because mines a 4x4)

what andy has is different setup than found on half tons, hmm.. the bumpers are actually mounted on the ends of the longest overload ppack leaf and are mounted on top side of the leaf and are round abotu same size as coil sprind aux bumper contact pads and look like when truck is loaded down enough they would contact bed floor support sills. truck is definitely unmodified and nothing looks touched since it was new, no rig work was apparent on it, wish i had a digicam, wish i had a quarter for every time ive wished i had one ,,,

I Agree with Fast68 the 1/2 ton set i have the bumper stops are on the spring piece itself.
